Would you include Carson Benge in a trade for Yordan Alvarez?

Where the f is Yordan gonna play?
We don’t need a DH, even if Alvarez is great. How about a second baseman? I think we might be in need of one
No. We do not need another lead-footed corner outfielder with generational left-handed batting ability. 5 years from now we still only have 1 DH slot available
Yeah
This seems kind of random.
No.
Absolutely not
Stearns is so high on him. Seems hes untouchable.
We do need some youth
Absolutely the fuck not. What did you smoke this evening?
Don’t trade top prospects for rentals. There is only 1 reason to ever do that, and that’s if your 1 key piece away. The Mets are no where near that position.
Edit: thought he was a FA, been proven wrong. So yes I would trade Benge for him. However this just continues to make this a team of DHs.
Also for those of you who think this would make the Mets divisional favorites, you’re delusional.
This team already has Bichette, Soto, Polanco, they don’t need another DH playing the field.
Also is this even a thing?
Why?
Yes I’m trading Benge if it means 3 years of Yordan Alvaraz.
No
No
And I don’t expect you’d need to
1 for 1 sure.
Im not sure you guys know how good Yordan is. Before last year he’s had an ops+ of at least 170 for the last 3 seasons, and he’s currently under contract for 3 more years, being his aged 29, 30 and 31.
Nah.
Um, yes. All day, everyday. Seriously some of you all are off your rockers. Alvarez is signed through 2028.
Doesn’t matter. The Astros would laugh at us for even offering it and decline immediately.
Alvarez is a special hitter in his prime. I have never seen Benge play an inning in the majors.. imagine having Soto and Alvarez in the middle of the lineup!
Yeah I think the Astros would definitely agree to this trade proposal as there’s a drive into deep left field by Castellanos, it will be a home run. And so that’ll make it a 4-0 ballgame.
I don’t think it would make sense based on how the Mets have operated. We’d legit need two outfielders then too. The Mets have prospect hugged too long we need to see how McLean, Benge and Tong develop, at minimum. They’ve passed on so many opportunities to trade them to help the team during a playoff run and now we kind of need them.
NO
Anyone who says no needs to have their head examined. Alvarez is probably the best pure hitter in the game outside of Judge, Soto, and Ohtani, is still just 28, and has three years left on his contract. I love prospects as much as anyone else, but you take the deal and run if Benge is the only prospect of note we’d be parting with in this trade.
Only thing I’d be concerned about is his health. I don’t pay much attention to the Astros so I only know he missed a bunch of time not if it would be a long term concern. If it isn’t a concern I’d make that move in a heartbeat. And I’m super high on Benge.
People look at what players are moved for. Juan Soto with 2.5 years of control at the deal on an arb contract didnt net this much back
Yordan isn’t getting close to a Soto level return. Especially not in the offseason.
Yeah man it’s fucking Yordan Alvarez. He’s the closest thing to Juan Soto who isn’t Juan Soto.
Sure
Alvarez ranks in the top 20 OPS of all time as things stand. Yes, we should be trading him for Benge.
I traded for Alvarez in my show franchise. Won back to back MVPs and top 3 the other following 2 seasons. He also won a WS MVP.
Now, I was able to keep Benge in that trade and in my latest season him, Soto, and Alvarez were all top 3 in MVP voting.
Hard to turn down trading Benge (straight up) for Alvarez.
