Yes we need a QB and Mendoza is no.1 but never forget defense wins championships

  1. Drafting a QB #1 and having a great supporting cast for a non 1st Round QB are both viable strategies. This sub is too obsessed with one or the other.

  2. What do you suggest we wait till next year and maybe hopefully get Arch Manning? Or Moore?

That mindset is absolutely egregious we are more than a defense away from being a viable contender.

In a division with premier qb play from Mahomes, Nix and Herbert. Passing on a high character high IQ qb like Mendoza could set us back another decade.

Going defense and picking up Bain won’t put points on the board.

  3. Defense is great but if the offense turns the ball over, goes three and out, and never puts up enough points your defense will be on the field too much and pissed off at the offense.

  4. Cannot have your d on the field for 80% of the game. Great d’s win, but need at a minimum a competent offense.

  5. do ya’ll think everyone else on this sub doesn’t watch football?

“hey everyone we need a good defense to compete for championships!!”

“hey everyone we need an offensive line to protect our first round draft pick!!!”

  6. Sam Darnold was a former number three overall pick. The Seahawks have several 1st round skill guys on offense.

  7. A good QB to give our defense some rest instead of 3 and outs every possession would probably help too

  8. The year Gruden won the SB with Tampa he challenged the defense to score 8 times and he told them they’d win a championship if they did. They scored 9 times with 3 pick 6’s in the SB. The rest is history.

  9. Well it’s a team sport sooooooo both win championships having one with the other generally just get you kicked out the playoffs or not making them

  10. There is more than 1 way to skin a cat.

Nobody is saying get a QB and every other position doesn’t matter.

  11. anyone watching this texans game rn? their defense is literally carrying them and keeping them in the game and stroud has 4 interceptions. this defense has carried the texans to the playoffs and they had hella injuries. i still lean towards having a offensive head coaches

  12. The QBs are Stroud, Nix, Maye and then Darnold. Get your first round qb and then you can build around your young qb

  13. I agree that defenses win championships but it’s not an end all be all. You know what helps a lowly defense that we’re working on to build?

A competent offense led by a stud QB that keeps our defense off the field.

  14. Offense sells tickets, but really I wouldn’t be mad if we just focused on protecting Mendoza or running out an Alex smith to make sure he want die this year.

  15. The Texans have the best defense in the league this year, but are about to lose in the divisional round again because their offense turned over the ball 5 times.

Both sides need to be complementary of each other

  16. 3 of these 4 teams have a rookie contract QB they drafted in the first round. I think everyone is aware you need both

  17. All great defenses are made mortal by incompetent offensive play. Ask the Texans. Thanks to Stroud’s constant turnovers, they were on the field too much and now they’re headed to Cancun.

  18. I remember Once upon a Time the Raiders had a decent defense in 2006. Had the worst offense in the league we won two games. The only reason we won two games was because of the defense scoring touchdowns.

    2006 Raiders Defense Rankings
Scoring Defense (Points Allowed): 19th (332 points allowed / 20.8 per game)
    Total Defense (Yards Allowed): 3rd
Passing Defense (Pass Yards Allowed): 4th
Rushing Defense (Rush Yards Allowed): 18th

    2006 Raiders offense
Scoring Offense (Points For): 32nd — 168 points (10.5 per game)
Total Offense (Total Yards): 32nd – 4,426 yards
Passing Offense (Pass Yards): 31st — 2,850 pass yards
Rushing Offense (Rush Yards): 29th – 1,576 yards

    2025 Raiders offense
Scoring Offense (Points For): 32nd — 241 points (14.2 per game)
Total Offense (Total Yards): 31st — 4,168 yards
Passing Offense (Pass Yards): 23rd — 3,315 yards
Rushing Offense (Rush Yards): 30th — 1,317 yards

The 2006 Raiders offense actually gained more yards than the 2025 offense even with all the rules now that favor the offense. That’s pretty pathetic in my opinion. We are talking about the bed and breakfast offense here. I’m so happy that we’re changing regimes regardless. I hate that we had to fire yet another head coach but it had to be done Pete was all about making that money and giving his kids jobs and that’s fucking weak.

  19. Once we get Mendoza the true greatness of Tre will be unlocked. For real, this team is 8 players away from only needing one more piece

  20. Rams, Patriots, Seahawks are the #1, #2 and #3 scoring Offenses in the league, respectively.

You can make the same chart and call it “Offense Wins Championships”

  21. It’s pretty funny that Geno played on a team that was about to be championship level good and then went to the Raiders haha. I wonder if there was a chance he could’ve stayed there.

  22. #1 rated defense just got sent home because their offense couldn’t do jack shit.

They needed to front-hand back-hand Stroud so bad. Dude really fucked them over.

  23. Warching Robert Spillane ball hard today was great. Proof that personnel is important but have coaches who use your personnel to the best of their abilities, priceless.

  24. You are aware that a good offense helps keep the defense off the field, right??

Don’t be fooled. QBs win championships.

  25. Is bo nix first round? Is stafford 1st round? Was the bears guy 1st round? How about drake maye?

Like is this just the dumbest fucking sub? If we don’t take a QB and it isn’t this guy then I give up
