We better be calling the Red Sox for pitching and OF. We have too many middle infielders (who aren’t that good defensively).
Baty will prob be super utility. Our IF average age is over 30. They’ll need breaks. There also LF while waiting for Benge. I doubt he moves. Stearns is high on baty.
I like the pickup. We need his bat more than ever. Lindor Soto bichette is no joke. We got a decent lineup. I’m
Optimistic
I don’t understand. He’s not known for defense at his natural position to begin with. And he’s being moved to 3rd?
Moneyball is moneyballinggg
He struggled defensively at SS and 2nd, what the hell is he going to do at 3rd?
No. We have a perfectly good Baty at 3B, this is nuts.
If they move Baty to 1B, then they have 3 great fielders on the infield.
They must feel okay with Bichette at 3B, which plenty of SS have moved to when their range just wasn’t enough for SS.
On any given day they could put any of these guys at DH and play somebody else at one of these positions (including each other).
I’m a big fan of that type of versatility, which makes it easier to field your best lineup every day, and I think it makes players better in the field overall.
Can we teach Baty 1B and have Polanco DH? Then flip Vientos for Robert. I’d be kinda ok with that.
Wasn’t an issue with Bo at SS that his arm wasn’t great? How’s that gonna work at 3rd?
“RUN PREVENTION”
Shoeless Bo in the house
WHOOO YEAHHH!! LETS F**KING GO METS!!
Heck yeah!!
Does this mean an outfield of Baty Soto and benge/tyrod?
Hope that’s a joke
“run prevention” my ass
Baty will learn 1st, he can play a good 2nd and of course 3rd. I bet he learns LF too. He replaces Jeff McNeil as that Utility Player with more upside though.
Sign bader and trade baty for skubal
Mark will definitely be in a trade package mann damnn
Another great “run prevention” move eh?
I’d trade all 3 of our free agent pickups in a heartbeat for a good pitcher
Finally, someone to step in and fill Todd Fraziers shoes.
“Uhhhh what are we doing…”
fixed that for you.
Bo Bichette is very good but he does not play 3rd until now. Polanco is a good bat but he does not play first until now
This signing makes no sense. They way overpaid, and very doubtful this guy can’t play third.
They had Pete Alonso. He’s a better hitter, and if that was all you were looking for…
No shit
This makes me wonder if they might change their mind and try and sign Beli. This move makes a lot more sense if you have an experienced, strong defensive 1B and move Polonco to DH. I’m not sure they are willing to give him the years he wants but it seems to make a lot more sense to go after him now.
I’d kind of prefer Bo play first and Polanco never saw the field, maybe he won’t suck completely at first. Baty is a much better defender, and I don’t think trading him is a good idea if Bo has an opt out after every season.
Run prevention tho
As a Jays fan, you will love Bo . The guy is no bullshit, comes to play every day and is a great hitter. We already miss him! Grumpy as fuck too which adds to his charm.
That being said, 3rd base may be a disaster for the guy . He won’t win a gold glove at second but that might be the only place he fits. Essentially, his bat makes up for his errors.
Good luck to you guys this season and fuck the Yankees and fuck the Dodgers! Cheers🇨🇦
Everyone making the same “run prevention, hurr durr” joke 🤦🏽♂️ We need to send you back to school.
Run prevention is a preference, not an absolute.
Solid signing.
Is Baty the new Nimmo?
Im going to enjoy watching the Mets lose while Bichette airmail throws over Mark Vientos’ head lol
Why is everyone assuming Polonco and or Bichette won’t be good at first and third.
I’ll admit I haven’t watched a ton of Bichette? But what was his problem at ss… was it just a range thing? Cause if he can make all the routine plays with his glove then he’ll be fine. I know his throwing arm is average from what I’ve read.
Also Polonco at first…. Nobody knows. But I doubt the Mets just signed him to play there if they weren’t confident he could handle it
Jays fan here. Bo is not nearly as bad as a defender as everyone says. He’s a great hitter, and I’m pissed we don’t have him back. You’ll like having him on the team.
I love how everyone thinks anyone can just play first, and bichette will be fine at 3rd. This is a transition. Polanco and Vientos at first? Yikes

1 Lindor SS
2. Bichette 3rd
3. Soto RF
4. Polonco 1b
5. Vientos dh
6. Baty lf
7. Alvarez c
8. Semenin 2nd
9. Benge
So minus Defender at 1st and third.

Unless he plays LF……
