Assuming he’ll have opt outs. They all seem to get them on these short, high AAV deals.
Lineup would look great with Alonso…

Fuck it go for Belli before the salary cap era kicks off
Isn’t he always hurt? Why are we giving him 42 million dollars? Why didn’t we just keep Pete for 30 million
Might as well snag belli too at this point and then work on trading for a pitcher or three
Huge signing for us. We deserve this
His arm isn’t strong enough to play 3rd, hell, he’s marginal at 2nd. Get ready for him to DH 80 games.
Needed a right handed power bat and he is the best one out there by FA. He is as good 3B glove as Baty will ever be. Baty will be traded for a pitcher. More to come but a lot of Pete’s production is back!
So who plays left field? And where does Baty end up?
Jett Williams better turn out like A-Rod given this team’s insistence on opt outs.
Only 3 years is great. Prime of his career.
Why? Im so confused. We have no first basement, an old 2nd basemen, 2 top tier shortstops, a billion 3rd basemen, and no outfielders (Soto is a DH)
Making $11M more than Alonso for an arguably worse player. Maybe he’ll be decent at third
So who’s playing first base? Belli?
Getting rid of Nimmo for $20 mil in salary relief at the expense of creating an expensive logjam that will require playing multiple players out of position is looking like a dumb fucking decision at this point.
Its hard to see this as anything other than a Plan A failure (signing tucker) followed by a panic attempt to save face (throw money at Bichette)
I love the price for a doubles machine in the line up. Tucker .841 OPS, Bichette .840 OPS for a fraction of the price. Sure Bichette is not the overall player that Tucker is, but when you look at filling the need of having a strong right handed bat behind Soto and Lindor he does that pretty well. Even in comparison to Pete, Bichette is going to drive in a lot of runs for us even if he doesn’t hit a ton of HR. The money difference between Bichette and Tucker can go to bringing in a good everyday outfielder.
I like that’s it’s only 3 years. Bichette doesn’t really have a hitting profile that I think will age well
Cohen made a tweet last night he regretted cuz he was sure the Mets would get Tucker, now he had Stearns pay 126 million dollars to take the heat off him cuz of that tweet
So if he’s really good he leaves after a year? Great.
Are we really poo poooing bo? Hes gonna protect soto amazingly, he did well protecting vlad
I saw an opt out bonus of 5 mil.
He can get paid more if he opts out? That’s hilarious – has that ever been a thing before ??
I looked at all players, 1986-2025 who (ages 25-27) had +/-10% of Bo’s PA, +/- 5 points of his wRC+, +/- 0.5 fWAR/600PA and a BSR/600PA rate +/- 5 runs. here they are with their age 28-30 fWAR:
18.3 John Olerud
12.8 Bernard Gilkey
11.2 Jason Kendall
11.0 Tino Martinez
9.8 Rusty Greer
8.8 Trot Nixon
8.4 Ryan Klesko
6.7 Luis Gonzalez
4.6 Kole Calhoun
4.2 Jody Reed
3.3 Jorge Polanco
1.6 Brian Anderson
-0.4 Felix Jose
-2.3 Pablo Sandoval
The median is 7.55 fWAR, which certainly seems on the high side for $126M
I hate to be that guy but still need a LF, CF and an ace. Tucker/Belly made much more sense.

Does Bo play another position besides ss?
