There's also a fun thing you can do, which is compare 2nd overall pick Dylan Harper to 28th overall pick Hugo Gonzalez. Both are coming off the bench for great teams and most advanced stats like Hugo over Harper. Harper is hands down the better offensive player, but overall impact favors Hugo, (more rebounds, better paint protector, and similar steals).

  1. In so many ways he’s like a forward version of young Derrick white before the 3 pointer became elite.

  2. Hugo would be a top 10 draft pick this year and probably the last… yet he’s on the contract of a 27th pick for the next four years. Very excited to see him potentially blossom into an all-star defender as time passes (maybe he takes over for the Jays?)

  3. He seems to impact literally every possession he plays. Defensively is where he is clearly a machine but a lot of the value he brings there with IQ and positioning type stuff carries over to the offensive side of the ball too.

I get excited and yet also feel comfortable seeing him on the floor which is really amazing for a 19 year old rookie who we managed to nab at pick #28

  4. He might not be an exact copy of Manu Ginobili, but I have no doubt Pop would’ve drafted him.

  5. I have no idea what this guy’s gonna look like in his prime. He can do a little bit of everything at a decent level: dribbling, driving, shooting, finishing, off ball, on ball stuff, obviously defense has been covered.

One thing he’s good at that I like is his ability to get by people without much lateral movement. He’s good in narrow spaces. It’s kind of like JB.

He’s currently a fill-in-the-gaps kinda guy. Will he just continue to excel and grow into that kind of role? Or will he develop into a legitimate offensive threat? I’d love to know what Brad thinks.
