   Drew Petzing and Ben Johnson are NFL coaches with a close personal and professional relationship, having worked together at Boston College and with Petzing serving as Best Man in Johnson's wedding, and they were both considered for NFL head coaching roles, with Johnson eventually landing the Chicago Bears job while Petzing stayed as Arizona's Offensive Coordinator before moving to the Lions as OC, with Johnson now coaching the Bears and Petzing the Lions OC, showcasing their mutual respect and connection as they've advanced in the coaching world.

   So Ben Johnson lite?

2. He has had two top 5 rushing teams, but I get it, I think I would have preferred we wait and talk to a few guys from playoff teams as well. With Buffalo now opening up their head coaching vacancy, I don't think the Lions wanted to sit tight for several more weeks. With Dan knowing exactly how he wants this thing to run, he must have clicked with this guy during the interviewing process. Let's go!

32. The more I learned the more I like it. Hes big with running the ball and play action. He brought a shit Cardinals team to top running offense in 23 and 24. If he can scheme a top tier running offense in Arizona with that offensive line, I would imagine he can do it here.

    NOBODY had a candidate they wanted NOT NAMED MCDANIEL

    McDaniel is getting a HC job. If not, he will take the Bills and Allen over the Lions and Goff. That’s common sense.

    I couldn’t care less about the hire either way. The team knows what they want. From all indications I’ve seen they want a guy who aligns with what they currently have. Because like it is with Hutchinson on defense, this team is married to Goff. They will do what it takes to make that work.

    Here’s what I challenge you to do—go find me the overwhelming “NO!” fans expressed when before the hire. I want to see where someone said “never! Whatever you do, don’t hire him!!”. You’re not going to find that.

    You’ll just get a bunch of people claiming McDaniel is perfect for the Lions and would rather be an OC there than anywhere else.
