  1. Jim Leonhard suffers from the Cowboys effect. Everytime the Cowboys organization shows interest in someone, whether its player or coach, they become the most talked about person for the news cycle. Players draft stock rises once the organization shows interest. The light is shining on them. Jim leonhard was probably always going to be a good coach, but nobody talked about him until Dallas did.

  4. The take on Leonhard is dumb. You used Johnson as an example as a OC to HC. What about when Ben Johnson was a QB coach to OC. He had nothing to prove he would be a good OC until he was the OC.

  5. I don't like how you bashed Demeco so harshly. You went off on others saying certain players have no heart and how calling that out is reprehensible, yet you absolutely blow up Demeco and call him a loser without knowing or contemplating his possible strategy? Think for a moment about what he was thinking. His offense(QB) was horrible that day. He likely thought he had a better chance with his other worldly defense to get a turnover than for his QB to make that 4th down, in other words…percentages favored punting and defense in his mind. No idea myself what he was thinking but your bashing of him is quite unwarranted.

Nick , I dunno about Demeco Ryan’s character that much and your comments were really tough on him , don’t know if he ever explained his thinking afterward but I too was perplexed at punting even on 4/18 when down 2 scores with 4 minutes to play . Quitter ? I don’t know , bozo decision, For Sure !

  12. Why even consider Brian Flores? Even if we were able to hire him, he would be a 1 year rental. He is going to be a head coach. We need a Dc that will be here multiple years

  13. 1) If the grocery bagger and gas station clerk are giving out stock market advice it’s time to start shorting the market. Does it relate to coaching (i.e. Jim Leonhard) Maybe? I think we should always be contrarian. Saying that I am a huge Leonhard fan. Definitely like to see him in Dallas although he is not the only good candidate.

    2) Ulysses Grant the 18th President of the United States was a brilliant tactician but what made him unbeatable was his ability to convey very complex strategies into very easy terms for his subordinates to execute his orders and command intent. His communication skill is studied by Military Leaders to this day. Eberflus on the other hand couldn’t lead a fart out of his own backside. The world hadn’t quite learned yet but after the Civil War the US was the Worlds Preeminent Superpower largely thanks to General Grant.

    3) I always liked D-LAW. Hard worker and straight shooter. I prefer that attitude over glory seekers. I hope he gets a Ring in Seattle.

    4) That single decision was not a terribly great decision. That I can agree. Demeco Ryan has been better than any of Head Coaches the Cowboys have had in a very long time. Stroud played like pig manure. If you’re going to fire anyone I would start at the QB in that case. Texans will be fine. Rare that I disagree but on Ryans I do. Yeah not a fan of quitters either although I’m not sure that is what He (Ryans) was doing.

  14. Best point was that all the defensive coordinators may have had a bad year or 2 and its difficult to evaluate. I like two candidates, Parker and then Leonhard. I would be happy with either.

  15. You're assuming the offense will be as good as it was this year. There's no guarantee they will perform as well. Defense mindset should be to be the best, not 20th.

  18. I've observed Schottie display ghe same lack of leadership, that you assume Ryan's of. Multiple games, where all we needed was 3 additional wins to make the playoffs.

  20. I'm curious, after your "it's the playoffs " comment of which I agree, what is your take on Nix? My first thought was next week put him in a Boot and trot him out there ala Leftwhich, because it's the playoffs.

  23. Hey, Nick, I can’t believe I stopped watching DLLS and other I used to love to watch or listen to, but your one of the only shows that doesn’t spend the first 4-10minutes talking about food and Jerry’s mistakes from years gone by…

    I have a request for a palate cleanser spots: 4th quarter PI’s versus turnovers in determining outcomes. It seems that the DPI is the new turnover…

    Thank you for all you do. You are one of the top two shows I watch. And because the other show has a little extra fluff at the beginning and likes to trash in media and ESPN a lot, you win my no-nonsense award even though I agree with the other guy in his take. I don’t always agree here but i know you stay true to delivering without the distractions.

  24. Cowboys asking Leonard for an interview turned him into the flavor of the month, lol

    . Demeco screwed up, still a good coach, his qb was absolute trash the last 2 games,qb is overhyped, but still young enough to overcome his shortcomings, but will never be great.
