Whether he stays or goes, I just want a pass rush..

I’m doubting that he gets hired elsewhere but man those 3rd round comp picks would be niiiice
Go Raiders Go.
(Probably a Rooney interview for both them and Steelers though let’s be honest).
I heard one of our former very successful D Coordinators might be looking.

Guy is interviewing with the whole damn league.
The Evero haters are really going to miss him when they see how bad it can get. He was generally maximizing the lack of talent we had.
And no, McDermott isn’t coming here to be a DC. He’s either immediately getting another HC job or taking a year
I can see him replacing Tomlin. Defensive mind. Apparently he is very well thought of in NFL circles. I wish him the best
I dont have any ill will towards Evero, but I also would take two 3rd Round comp picks and happily move on…
Win-win for us as far as im concerned
He fits the Steelers pretty well.
I just wonder if teams are rethinking their plans after the McDermot news.
Evero is a great coach but he’s far from perfect.
Wishing he stays or hoping he goes are both fruitless endeavors. If the Steelers or Raiders want him, he’s gone.
We had plenty of talent but decided to play people not as good in certain positions as well as play soft zone anytime we had a lead allowing teams to walk to scoring position. Glad to see him go as long as he takes nick scotts trash ass with him
Y’all forget about the Rooney rule?
Unless we get extremely lucky, I think losing him would set us back significantly. I think we were very lucky to get him and he is building something steadily and gradually adding talent in the places that he needs it.
There was a lot of buzz about him being a future HC candidate a few years ago. I thought after our historically bad defense in 2024 his stock had plummeted. Maybe some teams were impressed with how much he was able to improve this year, but I doubt it.
This feels like teams just checking the Rooney Rule box.
I honestly think we should go back to a 4-3 defense anyways, we had good defenses under that scheme… please do not stay a 3-4 defense regardless of whether he stays or goes
I think like with any coaching firing, the idea of moving on with somebody you’re not entirely thrilled about isn’t the issue. The real question is who is going to replace that person? I think as a head coach you’re either offensive minded or defensive minded. If you’re offensive minded like Canales, you probably can find other offensive minded coaches that you can pull out of other systems. But when you’re not defensive minded, finding really good coordinator seems to be easier said than done.
I think when Dave came here, he really didn’t know what he wanted to do on defense. But you had Eviro here and he had success with the last coaching staff. So they just kept him. And I think that if Dave had a better understanding of how he wanted to run the defense in somebody that he wanted to come here, I think he would have brought in somebody else, but I don’t think he really knew what he wanted. So that’s why I’m a little bit concerned about who is going to replace him.
You’re definitely going to want to find somebody who coaches with somewhat of the same philosophy because you’re going to want to recruit a lot of the things that the defense has been learning.
I know Dave has made a lot of connections over the years. There’s definitely a lot of great defensive people even with his time in Seattle, who I would be thrilled about getting here. But those coaches are probably going to take better opportunities. I think our defense on paper is the sort of team where there’s a lot of promise but if you’re looking for a situation where the pieces are in place and they just need better schemes, we might not be at that situation just yet.
He’s a little on the old side for the Steelers, but I think he’d be great there. Could easily be a great 10-12 year coach before he starts to lose his fastball.
I’d miss him. Maybe Sean wants to come home lol
He can go. I think he misused some personnel that would have made the defense a bit better as a whole. Not to mention, the defense could use those two 3rd round comp picks.
Steelers are gonna rake McDermott
He’s going and we’re gonna promote Cooley. It’ll be interesting to see how we are with him
