Ah, the life of a Jets fan.. when the closest thing you can come to happiness during playoff season is rooting against our rivals, or rooting for some of our ex players.

Last year saw the likes of Mekhi Becton, Bryce Huff, Braden Mann, CJ Uzomah, EJ Jenkins and Parry Nickerson get rings – first and only for all of them.

All four teams have multiple ex Jets on their rosters or practice squads:

Denver Broncos

  • John Franklin-Myers – NYJ DE 2019-2023, accumulating 17.5 sacks over that time period, though he had a few memorable costly penalties as well. Many attribute his loss as a big factor in the drop off of our defensive line. 7.5 sacks this year for Denver, a career high.

  • Elijah Moore – Maligned former NYJ WR from 2021-2022, catching 6 TDs. Only caught 1 in his second season before forcing his way off the team, seeking greener pastures. He did see over 100 targets in back to back years with the Browns, before spending most of this year with the Bills in a greatly reduced role. He was waived to make room for Brandin Cooks (lol), and signed onto the Broncos practice squad in December. Remember, practice squad members get rings too!

  • Tanner McCalister – Undrafted safety from 2023 who spent a month with the Jets over the 2025 offseason. Included for completeness.

None of these players have rings, although JFM did play in Superbowl LIII as a rookie, losing to the Patriots. He even had a sack fumble on Brady, thought the offense recovered. You know he will have some extra motivation going against New England again. Speaking of….

New England Patriots

  • Morgan Moses – A two time Jet playing 17 games for them in 2021 and then another 14 in 2024 after trading a 6th round pick for him to Baltimore. I am sure he was happy when he got that call. A serviceable lineman.

  • Leonard Taylor III – UDFA DT got his start with the Jets in 2024. He made the 53 man roster and finished the year with 1.5 sacks. Released from the Jets in October after appearing in two games this season, he signed with Patriots practice squad two days later.

Yea… these guys don't have any rings, and unless there is some Morgan Moses superfan among you, I doubt anyone here wants to see these two win one. We can only hope the Broncos somehow prevail.

Los Angeles Rams

  • Davante Adams – The star WR spent 11 games with the Jets in 2024, after they traded a 3rd round pick for him in another attempt to appease Aaron Rodgers. He had 7 TDs in that timeframe, though at times he was being force fed by Rodgers to the detriment of the gameplan. He has excelled with the Rams this season, doubling his TD count to 14 on the year, though with less receiving yards.

  • Harrison Mevis – The Thiccer Kicker started as an UDFA with Carolina in 2024. He sign with NYJ in the 2025 offseason, and went 3/4 on FGs and 2/2 on PATs in preseason. He was signed to our practice squad but was cut in September. He signed to the Ram practice squad, and was eventually elevated in week 10 to replace the struggling Joshua Karty. He went 12 for 13 kicking for them in the regular season, and a perfect 4 for 4 in the playoffs so far.

  • Ben Niemann – UDFA LB who has been in the league since 2018 and spent time with 7 teams. Spent a grand total of ONE WEEK on the Jets during the 2025 offseason. Looks like he sat out most of the year, but got signed to the Rams practice squad in January. Included for completeness.

Ben Niemann does have a ring, winning Superbowl LIV with the Chiefs. Neither other player has a ring.

Seattle Seahawks

  • Sam Darnold – NYJ 1st round pick in 2018, spent 3 seasons with the team before we gave up on him. Probably the best thing that could have happened to him, allowing him to eventually make his way to the 49ers to learn under Shanahan and reinvent himself. Back to back years leading a team to 14 wins, got the #1 seed this year, and got his first playoff win. I think the majority of Jets fans are happy to see him succeed.

  • Leonard Williams – NYJ 1st Round pick in 2015 was with the team for 4.5 seasons before being traded to the Giants for a 3rd and 5th round pick, collecting 15 sacks over that span. Spent another 4.5 seasons with the Gmen before they traded him to Seattle for a 2nd and 5th round pick (they got more than we did!). In Seattle he has flourished, making two Pro Bowls and earning All Pro 2nd Team honors this year. And who could forget his legendary pick 6 off Rodgers?

  • Jason Myers – Spent the 2018 season as the NYJ kicker. Was a bright spot that season for us, going 33/36 and earning a Pro Bowl nod. Has been in Seattle ever since.

  • Chazz Surratt – A 3rd round pick for the Vikings in 2021, he spent 2022-2024 with the Jets, appearing in 35 games and making 39 tackles. Mostly a special teamer, he has been on IR for the Seahawks, but has recently been designated to return.

  • Ja'Markis Weston – One last 2025 UDFA LB who got started with the Jets in the offseason. He actually did appear in 3 games for us this year, recording 2 assisted tackles. He was waived in November and signed with the Seattle practice squad in December.

None of the Seattle players have a ring. To me, they are a clear favorite to root for, but I would love to hear other opinions. Good luck Sam, bring home that Lombardi!

  1. It’s Sam 100%, he deserves the absolute best in the world

He had every opportunity to shit on us – and we did deserve to be shit on for what we did to the first half of his career – but he has always taken the high road and been a great dude

  2. It’s got to be Sam. Like to see him go from “Out Indefinitely” to “Super Bowl Champion indefinitely”.

It’ll be a cold day in hell before I root for anyone currently playing for the Patriots.

  3. Sam Darnold. He wasn’t the greatest when he was with the Jets. But he didn’t have much to work with either.

  4. Sam Darnold, if he beats New England maybe in some weird way this will exorcise our demons.

  5. Unfortunately NE has pretty much a free ride into the Super Bowl now since Bo Nix broke his ankle. So I think we’re all hoping and praying Sam Darnold will tear them a new asshole in the big show.

  6. As a Trojan that grew up a jets fan it’s Sam and Leonard. Sam didn’t perform to a level we wanted, but never had a reason to dislike him off the field and same with Leo.

  7. Can’t do pats. Can’t do Broncos cause Elijah. Can’t really back Devonte. So GEQBUS!!!!

  8. Sam I am..I still root for Darnold as long as he wasn’t going up against my Jets. Since we are light years away from being decent ( not even thinking about playoff possibilities) , I .embrace the success of my teams former players as long as the were warriors with my Jets

  9. I’d like to see Darnold win.

And, though I never thought I’d say this, I wouldn’t mind seeing New England win it.

It would be an embarrassment to Belicheat and another ding on his legacy to have NEP rebuild and win a SB just 2 years after they canned the fraud for a 4-13 season.

  10. Rooting for Darnold and Williams. Two elite talents that the jets gave up on too soon.

  11. Sam and it’s not even close. He was drafted to the worst jets team I’ve seen in my life (save for maybe this current one) and never complained or tried to force his way out. Dealt with the ghosts and mono ridicule from the media and has turned himself into a top caliber player in the league.

If Becton’s fat, lazy ass can get a ring, then Sam absolutely should too.

  12. Easily Sam. Though, really, I like Stafford and I’d be happy with him getting a second ring.

Anybody but the Pats, really. Though, if they do happen to win, I’d be cool to see the Seahawks avenge the loss from 10 years ago. Sam could also get over his own demons, he’s horrendous against NE his whole career. Rams finally avenging their losses to NE would be poetic too.

Honestly, there’s some cool storylines here no matter what. Just as long as NE isn’t lifting the Lombardi, I won’t complain.

  13. Sam Darnold got dealt a terrible hand and he handled it with class. I am rooting for him. A consummate professional. It is crazy to think we DID hit on a QB but our organization is so INEPT that we could not make it work….. Anyway, ya, go Sam.

  14. Sam – and the Big Cat. The fact that the lazy, with a piss poor attitude, chronically complaining Mekhi Becton got a ring will always chafe me.

  15. Sam Darnold. The Jets didn’t give him the appropriate foundation to the an NFL QB. Is he an MVP now? Definitely not but the Jets would have been a better team with him the last two years

  16. Sam, espn and the media ghouls treated him horribly. “out indefinitely”, “seeeing ghosts”, etc etc

  17. Seahawks for sure, Sam got a shitty deal with us, I’m pleased to see Leo kick on and get even better and I had a strange soft spot for Chazz Surratt when he was with us,

  18. I don’t know why any Jet fan would NOT be rooting for a Hawks/Broncs super bowl right now.

Firstly, fuck the Patriots. That’s all that’s needed to be for the AFC title.

On the NFC side, I don’t see much reason to go against Sam or Leonard. And I have little investment in Davante, he was a Jet for two months. GOT to be the Hawks.

  19. Definitely Sam. Also Jason Myers because we went to the same school and I can probably count the number of successful NFL players that came out of Marist on one hand.

  20. Morgan Moses was quietly a solid player for us, high character dude too.

I also hope Davante does well. He was here so briefly but seemed like a standup guy. I always loved how he sounded puzzled and bewildered by how shitty our culture was here.

  21. Sam 100%. That guy gave it everything he had when he was with the Jets. Like most of our QBs, he was saddled with poor coaching (especially with Adam Gase) and a poor supporting cast. A SB win for him would be a fitting reward.
