I am in the hope a team fell in love with him and trade out camp
Bain or downs
I want Caleb Downs but we’d get laughed at for taking a safety at 2. I almost wish we had the 5th pick or something
I love Bain. So I’m biased. Nothing he did or didn’t do tonight took away from the fact that he’s the best player in this year’s draft class. Drafting him or Arvell has us in a pretty good spot.
I saw one of the thousands of Mock Drafts redditors spew out…and I LOVED this one.
Bain and #2
We trade #16 and 33 to KC for #9 for Downs
I would feel really good about that
He looked incredible in this game against a very good oline. They had to start triple teaming him.
I’m a Canes alum. Bain is a monster. I want him on this team and am also scared to see them draft him. He’s the real deal. If you need proof, watch the play where he literally picks up and tosses an Indiana lineman to get at the quarterback.
He’s a beast. Reminds me of James Harrison. I have no problem with the Jets drafting him at #2.
Arvell is better imo
Bain was my guy at 2 before the game. A few of my boys have given me crap for being a bain truther. Let’s just say I got more than one you were right on bain texts tonight.
Far more than reece or downs
I’ll tell you one thing, I’m on the “OK if they draft Carson Beck with a pick in the second/third round” train right about now. Aside from the last throw, he had a pretty solid night against a really tough defense.
Miami played a very good game, and played Indiana better than anyone else did in these playoffs. That’s for sure.
been on the Bain train choo choo. Only preference is a trade worth our while since filling multiple holes would be better.
I’m in the get a QB train
He’s been the bad man for a long time. I think the surprising thing has been how many people love Reese. I know the draft pundits had shot him up there, but he’s really been our second or third best defensive player this year. The size and athleticism is tantalizing, but it really feels like top 3 you kind of have to go a little safer even if you end up passing on someone who ends up amazing. Bailey has had 3 strong years with an absurd one this past year. Bain has been dominant against every great opponent they’ve faced this year. If LV doesn’t psyche themselves out of Nando, you’re not getting someone to trade up, so get your Will Anderson type dude there. Might even be a great opportunity to take another defensive stud at 16, then get the best 2nd round WR at 33 or even make the OL better.
If they are unable to get value for trading back, I have no problem with Bain there at all. The dude is unblockable and dominates vs run and pass.
His name open the door for so many fire nicknames especially if he’s elite.
The hall of Bain is so tough
He’s a hell of a prospect. Ability to slide up and down the line. He’s gonna be a problem.
I like Bain. I’d be fine with him at 2.
I like Bain a lot. He’s more than likely an interior guy than straight up edge though/
That’s been my pick since Moore ended all the hesitancy
Bain would make three other positions better being you could move him inside on passing downs taking pressure of McDonald and JJ lots of pressure plus blitzing a linebacker or safety
I recently watched a good bit of Bain, and I really enjoyed watching him. But no I’m not really sold on him. I’m not going to be entirely upset if he ends up being the pick, he’s clearly a great player who has a high motor and never gives up on a play.
That said I’m also against actually drafting with the #2 pick if the Jets can help it, I’d much rather they trade back further into the draft and collect more assets if they can.
Bain was great against the run as well. The jets need that aspect
I’m honestly just kind of numb to it. I truly don’t fucking care that this is the guy that we’re gonna be drafting because it’s just another defensive guy.. it feels like every other year we have to draft another defense of end. Every other year, it’s some fucking boring, defensive tackle or defensive end that I don’t care about watching. Ruben Bain doesn’t win us any more games than we did already. And if we draft him, that’s pretty much guaranteeing that one of our defensive events that we currently have is going to get the boot because they’ve been playing like shit so I can’t even get excited about that. Good for everybody that’s excited to get another defensive end that’s gonna contribute to like four or five sacks on the season . I’m just tired of all this defense. It’s so fucking boring.
Look at the bears, they got their offensive head coach and they drafted like five offensive guys before even touching defense last year and now they’re in the playoffs. I want to focus on offense. I want to team that’s good on offense and scores like 30 points a game. I don’t give a shit about defense anymore. We could rank dead last and defense as long as we’re top five in offense..
I’ve been watching the Jets since I was seven and I’m 31 now. It’s always been defense defense defense.. enough already with this fucking boring dog shit team philosophy. Can we please get some fucking playmakers?? can we please focus on the quarterback? Can we stop being the most boring one-dimensional dog shit team in all of football for the past 15 years?
We should fire Glenn but with 10 new hidings who all will get at least 2 years + other relatively new regimes + playoff teams there may not be alot of openings next year. Glenn is not going to last, he’s a joke who already lost the locker room. We in line for a possible good hiring next year.
Bain Reese or trade down. Only options
Only if we get official Gotham jerseys! I’ve always thought “Gotham Gang Green” was awesome and Bain is just icing on the cake!
He’s a beast but I’m locked in at QB at 2
He is a beast!
David Bailey is still the pick if we end up drafting at #2
Recency bias. I’m sure 90% of you haven’t seen David Bailey play a full game and if he was playing in the National Championship people would probably be clamoring for him.
Let’s let the draft evaluation process and combine play out before we anoint who should be pick 2 in January.
This might be a controversial take, but I would rather trade down than take Bain 1.02.
He could easily be an all-pro in the next 2-3 seasons, but what really scares me is the physicals – 6’2″ with 30″ arms – which is pretty undersized. Some argue this is more in-line with a 4-3 DT. The physical projectability is tough as compared to previous 1.01-1.05 EDGE selections. The tape is undeniable, but also fair to suggest some recency bias exists because of how dominant he was during the playoffs.
Thinking long-term value, i’d rather take Arvell Reese, if they did make a selection 1.02.
Just seeing the value that the Falcons got last year in the mid-late first puts the weak talent pool of this class into perspective……
Pardon the intrusion, not a jets fan, this just came across my feed. Couldn’t they trade away the 2 spot to gather even more picks to rebuild with? The QBs in this draft supposedly aren’t as deep as next years. So by trading back just a few spots, you could get another 1st and possibly more. You could always sign a solid backup for this year like Malik Willis, and then you basically control the draft for the next few years. Flip a few more picks and you can rebuild the whole team in 2years. Glenn may not feel he has the time to wait, but the GM should do it anyway.
