Hello Panthers fans! It’s officially the offseason, which means NFL Draft season is right around the corner. I’m curious what the community thinks are the positional draft needs going into the offseason?

  1. 1) ILB/EDGE
    2/ EDGE/ILB
    3) Playmaker on offense (Fast WR or toolsy YAC TE
    4) Second ILB.
    5) (and moving up quickly) Tackle.
    6) Corner depth (Evans is a practice squad player).

  2. I mean it’s pretty much gotta be Edge/ILB as the first two picks, yeah? We can sign a decent free agent LT, hopefully

  3. All depends on Free Agency. There could be holes at LT, C, Edge, and iLB… or they could fill all of those.

  4. Left tackle is absolutely the #1 priority sadly, I think Icky is a no for next year and i dont think you can ever really count on him coming back and being reliable. If he comes back and looks solid he can move to the right side or move into LG but i think our #1 has to be An LT.

    LB has to be #2 our weakness there in the zone sceme really prevented us from blitzing properly or using our edges well and i think having a good LB allows Princely and Nic to stretch their wings a bit more

  5. Left tackle. Ours was injured in the final game, will miss most or all of next season, and has no contract after that. We have to protect our QB.

  6. In order, I’d probably go pass rusher, LB, LT, speedy WR, safety, and maybe another IDL to pair with db

  7. Edge, LB, OT should be our main goals in the draft. Would love to see us pick up another WR and TE in free agency. But, best player available is really the strategy. Worked with TMac!

  8. Aight to me this is top to bottom what we need in draft and fa

    1-2: ilb and edge, depending on if we stay 3-4 primary edge turns to olb.
    Need a starter in both, high fa or high draft pick

    3: ot. With icky down for likely the year we need a good option here for lt, dev guy for behind moton if icky is gtg from there

    4: center. We could use a full time center option

    5: slot corner, nickel corner etc with potentially either depth or starting ability

    6: wr3, preferably a speedster. Legette has some to prove, he should fight for his spot. Same with jimmy horn who i ultimately think will take this spot, but another option aint bad.

    7: dt would a good option to upgrade too, if we go 4-3 then we would be fine and id prefer a weakside lb, but staying 3-4 outside dt to pair with brown would be cool

  9. Tier 1 needs
    =======
    **Edge** – we have no pass rush and right now are depending on Scourton and Princely to develop. Pat Jones will be back, but he’s not a 10+ sack guy.
    **Offensive Tackle** – Not only is our starting left tackle hurt, he’s got the type of injury that some guys just don’t come back from. And on the right side, Moton is 31 years old.
    **Off-ball Linebacker** – We pretty much give up the middle of the field, and more than once this season our opponents just marched down at the end and scored. This is a huge need, but because of positional value it’s not the same priority as an Edge rusher or Tackle.

    Tier 2 needs
    ========
    **Safety** – Nick Scott is not the answer, unless the question is “Who do you want to see replaced in the Panthers’ secondary?” We need a true ball hawk back there, and one who doesn’t miss assignments.
    **Center** – We have a guy who can move people in the run game and one who can snap the ball reliably. Both of those are free agents, and we need someone who can actually do both.
    **Tight End** – Our starter is more of a blocker, the guy behind him is more of a receiving threat (or used to be before getting his bell rung hard his rookie year), and the third guy is our only TE who can do both. We could use another guy like Evans.

    Tier 3 needs
    ==========
    **Wide Receiver** – Bryce has a couple of good weapons now in TMac and Coker, but we need someone who can stretch the field in ways XL was supposed to. Maybe Horn can be that guy, but if there’s another good candidate we should pounce.
    **Cornerback** – We are set with our starters, and Chau Smith-Wade has flashed. Thornton looks like a good one as well. But Mike Jackson is getting older and we can’t depend on either of those guys to replace him when it’s time.
    **Quarterback** – Not to replace Bryce, but we could use a good backup to provide a little competition and eventually replace Dalton.
    **Punter** – We will sign Sam Martin to another year probably. We’re set for the next decade at Placekicker, now do Punting.
