MONTREAL — Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin will miss the Olympics with a lower-body injury, a league source confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday.

Brodin’s timeline for a return to the Wild lineup is six to eight weeks. NHL Olympians are scheduled to leave for Milan on Feb. 7, with the gold-medal game on Feb. 22.

  1. Feel awful for the guy. He’s been a stud for us for years and underrated the whole time. Big blow to Sweden as well.

  2. This HURTS – we are headed to Edmonton on the 30th for a game. Nobody shuts down CMD like Brodin.

  3. Terrible news for my fantasy team. Leo has been a rock all season (I’m also missing Boldy and Shesterkin, shit is ROUGH rn)

  4. If you ever wonder why I’m pretty bullish on moving Brodin in spite of his masterful defensive play…this is why.

I hope he’s fully recovered by the time the playoffs roll around.

  5. I feel awful for Brodin…. But also kind of glad that he gets three weeks to recover for us

  6. How do people feel about the olympics?

I’m a little annoyed, and would rather just carry on with the NHL season.

    Everyone better stay healthy!

  7. I don’t remember Brodin ever leaving a game or blocking a shot or anything.. anyone have an idea of when this happened?
