Josh reported the wizards may be interested (albeit a long shot) for Zion. Apparently the pelicans would be okay even if it’s that weird 4 swap deal which gives us the thunder pick (aka #30).

What do we think of this? Genuinely have no strong feelings, but from a value perspective, it’s similar to Trae, barely anything for a distressed asset.

  1. No way pels would do this lmao, but Zion would be incredibly fun and he’s been good this year

  2. Unless they have a deal to flip him, no thanks – never want to be in the business of employing highly paid, oft injured players with varying degrees of commitment to excellence.

  3. if pels would do this I say why not.

It’s basically a two year deal (he wouldn’t really play after the deadline), and if the injury stuff pops up in the second year, he’s expiring the next season.

Offer a little more and get Yves Missi too if you’re shopping at NOLA-mart. I think he would play off Trae and Sarr wonderfully, and provide great back-up minutes for when Marvin Bagley moves on.

Salary dumping Zion is crazy. Surely a bust for what he was supposed to be. Sucks for New Orleans. They have a great home crowd.

  4. Will never happen but holy shit what is going on with that pelicans franchise. All of the blatantly tanking teams combined cannot achieve the shit record that the pelicans have now, and they literally aren’t tanking. .222 record and they owe their pick to the Hawks, just pathetic

  5. I 100% do not want Zion. It’s like the overplayed saying states, “the best ability is availability” and Zion is never available. I don’t want the Wiz’s success to hinge on whether Zion is healthy or not.

  6. I wouldn’t even give them that first rounder. I personally don’t want Zion that much, he’s way too injury prone, is a one way player and takes too many shots away from the young guys.

  7. Theoretically it would be good for Zion to play with a stretch 5 like Sarr and a playmaker like Trae. I don’t see how this is worth it for the Pelicans unless they *hate* Zion and want him out ASAP.

  8. I like it. If we do this. Shut down Zion and Trae for the season to land a top pick. I think we would be set.

  9. This is an absolute no brainer if the Pelicans would do it for this cheap. Wizards have so much cap space and the rookie extensions don’t kick in until Zion would be off the books. These are the type of risk/reward swings you need to take during a rebuild.

  10. Bruh keep Freaky Z as far away from this rebuild as possible. Even if we do acquire him buy him out or do the thing where they like dont suit up. Cuz he finna the death of our locker room with his off the court antics

  11. Did Zion Kick a baby or something? why would they want to make this deal Kuminga with Butler going down makes ways more since now

  12. I think you take a chance on Zion. He Compliments Sarr well. With the development the young guys have made, adding trae, Zion, and a top 8 pick would make us one of the more exciting teams to follow in the league.
