Who do you think the Saints draft at no. 8?

  1. I would love PBA. The only PBA might not be super high on would be a RB or a Tackle just because I already like the depth we currently have. My dream pick would be Bain to pair up with Young.

  2. This seems like an asshole comment, but this year it really depends on who is available at 8

I can see them drafting any of Reese, Love, Tyson, Tate, Downs, Bain

This is all also depending on free agency.

Maybe we sign or trade for a Vet receiver. This takes any receiver off of the board

Do we resign Alontae? If so then we probably dont draft Downs because they would fill a similar role

Do we sign Breece Hall? If so, no Love

    It’s a very fluid off-season this year.

I’m excited to see what approach the front office has in mind

  3. As conflicted as I am about drafting an RB at 8, I feel like it’ll probably be Love. There’s a huge stigma against drafting an RB in the top ten, but the guy is just outstanding. If we can pick up a starting caliber guard or two in free agency and/or draft one I’d be totally fine with it. He is without question the best offensive player in the draft, and along with an O-line upgrade, would completely transform our offense. We can’t expect to win consistently with Shough being our leading rusher every other game. Not sustainable, especially not in the playoffs

  4. Before I can make a guess I want to see how free agency shakes out and who is there at 8 to choose from.

As of right now I probably lean defense because I think that’s where the best value will be. Downs or Bailey. If Tate is there I’d probably grab him.

But again I want to see how free agency works first.

  5. The New Orleans Saints should make trading down in the draft a priority because the current roster-building model has repeatedly proven unsustainable. As a smaller-market team, the Saints are already at a disadvantage when competing for free agents. That disadvantage has been compounded by nearly two decades of cap mismanagement under Mickey Loomis, leaving the organization perpetually constrained financially. As a result, New Orleans is often forced to overpay in free agency just to attract talent—a strategy that erodes long-term flexibility and limits margin for error.

In that context, draft capital is not a luxury for the Saints—it’s a necessity. Acquiring more picks increases the odds of finding cost-controlled contributors, which is the single most reliable way for a cap-strapped team to stay competitive. Depth matters more than star power when your cap is tight, and trading down allows you to build that depth while still targeting players who fit your system.

Yet despite these realities, the Saints haven’t traded down in the draft since 2007—nearly 20 years ago. That’s an astonishing level of rigidity, especially under a general manager whose tenure has coincided with repeated restructures, future cap mortgaging, and an ongoing reliance on short-term fixes. The refusal to trade down isn’t a sign of confidence; it’s a failure to adapt.

  6. It’s gonna depend who drops to us and who they have graded out as the best prospect. I actually think Love has a solid chance of being picked but I also think they’ll probably have others graded higher. I think there’s a strong likelihood Love gets picked before 8 also.

I don’t think they’re going to Caleb Downs now that they resigned Julian Blackmon and with Sanker/Reid already there.

I really think their draft board of the people we know about is gonna be like

    Reese
    Bain
    David Bailey
    Carnell Tate
    Jordan Tyson
    Jeremiyah Love

Reese is going to be gone. The others ALL being available is not going to happen. In fact I think it’s probable they’ll all be gone. But if one of these guys are there, strong chance they’re picked.

But if not… then who’re you left with that’s really worth a top 10 pick? Maybe Makai Lemon but are you that desperate for a receiver that you can’t wait until the 2nd or 3rd rounds? I think the only picks that are not reaches in the top 10 at this point would be Caleb Downs and Peter Woods.

So with that logic… I think it’s going to be Peter Woods.

  7. BPA.

This year I can legit say I don’t care who the heck we draft. We are in a position where there’s many positions of need and while there’s positions this could be valued over others, there genuinely isn’t a wrong way to go.

We should trade down ideally, but we never do that. It’s also something that heavily depends on what we do in free agency. If we prioritize O-line? Maybe Love or a WR.

D-Line? Maybe Downs. Depending on free agency, but I think it’ll come down to Best Player Available

  8. Im thinking they go pass rush. Keldric Faulk would be my guess, dudes a beast as a run defender. Right now Bresee and Shepherd are the best interior guys we have. He can play inside and outside.
