Shaq always loves big guys who can do more than be strong. He walkways brings up how Orlando version of him was the 90s version of a big with handles and who could do more than traditional big guy stuff. He just went on to become the legendary version of a strong overpowering big man because….well he became that. But he’s always rated nimble and savvy centers really highly.
I feel like this sub has taken Shaq’s Bol Bol comments way too seriously for a while now. Bol Bol played on Shaq’s son’s AAU team and Shaq coached him a fair amount, he’s protective of his player and probably has felt some measure of responsibility for him as a mentor since Manute passed away.
Other than the Bol Bol comments, Shaq has always been pretty complimentary of Wemby (and was part of his “cutscene-esque” ROTY presentation that Fanatics put together). Spurs fans have latched onto the Bol Bol comments is all.
