What were your favorite memories of Carlos Beltrán?

The first free agent (non re-signing) that truly thrilled me. Stoked for this.
Architect of the biggest cheating scandal in MLB history.
Downvote away. You have no respect for the sport if you still like this guy.
Good shit! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
think having my favorite player as a kid is the pinnacle of my sports watching fandom, even better than the knicks in season tournament championship. 31 and ringless 🙁
Most memorable was his signing to be honest if we’re picking positives.
Deserving on merit, it’s just still crazy to me that after Astros Thing the league is now just going “eh whatever at least he’s not Barry Bonds”
Will always remember the catch going up Tal’s hill, probably more so because Minute Maid had something so stupid.
We knew he’d make it, congrats!!
I think the voters waited for him and Andruw Jones because outside of them this class had nobody
Happy for him I guess. I mean between letting that called third strike fly down the middle of the plate in that crutial Mets playoff game and the cheating scandle with him and the Astros I dont really care too much for him anymore. But hey, atleast he got us Wheeler in that fleece trade with the Giants🤭🤘
Utley getting over 60% makes me want to puke.
Good for him. Yeah the Astros scandal is a black mark but he’s the only one who suffered any real consequences. If Alex Cora still gets to be a manager Beltrán should still be a hall of famer on statistical merit. One of the best overall baseball players I ever watched, he made everything look effortless.
For what
Happy for Beltran but even more happy that Chase Utley didn’t get in. Fuck him.
Probably one of if not the best free agent signing in team history? My favorite player growing up as a kid. I loved him in KC. I lost my shit when he came to the Mets.
Mets fans were awful to him during his time here. Still, he wanted to go in as a met. He loves us, even if the fanbase doesn’t reciprocate.
We enjoyed a hall of famer at his best and didn’t appreciate it.
Well deserved!
Once he’s officially inducted in, he will be just the 3rd player to go into the Hall of Fame with a Mets cap. I wonder how soon it’ll be until the Mets announce that number 15 will be retired
Well deserved. Congrats, Carlos. 🥂
Is Beltran the first undefeated manager to make the hall?
Hell yeah!
My favorite all time Met gets his flowers. Well deserved! See you in Cooperstown, Carlos.
Carlos Beltran will forever be one of my favorite Mets players of all time. 2006 was a fun season to watch….Besides the end.
I respect the guy, and he was a great player, but he is among my least favorite players ever (fan since 1977) just because of the swing that wasn’t. I know it’s ridiculous, but I can’t help it.
He was one of my all time favorites. His career has blemishes, to understate the issue, and I’d have understood if he wasn’t inducted. But the voters made their choices, and nothing is going to stop me celebrating him. Congratulations Carlos!!
nothing but respect for MY manager
Well yeah. Him and Delgado and Wright was a good time to watch.
Before smart phones, before social media most sports fans had to watch SportsCenter 24/7 or listen to WFAN all day to get some semblance of breaking sports news.
If you wanted to dig a little deeper you had to follow all the different websites like Metsblog or other dedicated rumor websites. You had to be part of multiple message boards like the OG Mets .com boards or fan run sites like Mets Online .net affectionately known as the MOFO and other boards like GrandSlamSingle.
These are the places where fans could gather to talk sports and try to find any sort of inside info. There was no one stop shop like Reddit is today.
I remember staying up way too late every night trying to find any sort of nugget of info about a Beltran deal. I was a big fan of his for awhile and wanted him for my team.
Then we had to deal with all the BS about the Yankees being offered a cheaper deal, but turning it down and eventually the Mets landing him. I was pumped beyond belief when the news started trickling down that the Mets landed him.
Proud of Beltran for reaching the highest honor and proud of him wanting to do it in Mets uniform.
The catch where he ran up that mound in center field in extra innings was INSANE. I was a kid yelling at my TV haha
I remember staying up that night waiting to find out if he accepted the Astros offer.
Back then there was a cutoff for star players to accept an offer from the team that they last played for. If he didn’t accept the Astros offer, then it was all but guaranteed that they were signing with the other big suitor.
At 1 or 2 am ESPN was finally able to confirm that the Astros were out and Beltran was going to be a Met.
He was so good with the Mets. His 2006 season is right up there with Wright’s 2007 season as the best offensive season in Mets history. And his 2008 season was just behind.
Funny enough, Carlos was later on the other end of one of the most important pitching games in Mets history when he hit a foul ball that could have been called a hit in Johan’s no-hitter.
🟠🔵🔥💪🇵🇷
It was a great trade getting Wheeler for him. I just wonder if the Mets would still have Wheeler if Cohen owned the team in time.
He was so good at so many things, but I’ve never seen a better base runner.
Love to see this
Well he’s certainly tied to one of my least favorite memories as a Mets fan (but I’m grateful he was part of some of the favorite moments that got us there in 2026).
Awesome. Great news
Is Beltran the most underrated long term Mets of all time? Yes his strikeouts again Wainwright was awful. But it feels like we talk about Harvery/Cespedes / even Alfonso more than Beltran . And he was much better than them. Let’s be real.
So happy for him.
The walk off against the Cardinals to complete a 7-1 comeback, August 22, 2006. Went to that game with my brother and it’s just one of my happiest memories.
Is he gonna wear an astros hat in cooperstown?
Bonds should be in along with Mcgwire and Clemens amongst others.
He was so good. Has to be up there as one of the best 5-tool players in history.
Yes!
Sorry, but all I think of is the strikeout to end game 7 of the 2006 NLCS. Not a Beltran fan
Congrats Tranny
Chad Mets fan: Beltran was an incredible postseason performer as indicated by his .307/.412./.609 slash line in 256 PA.
Virgin Mets fan: bbbbbut, he didn’t swing his bat at that one unhittable curveball!
If this guy gets in, how the fuck is Donny baseball not in especially since Harold Baines and Kirby Puckett are in??? WTF
