Paywalled article, but it seems that Kittle’s injury occurred very high up on the achilles, which gets more bloodflow during healing and does not require drilling into the ankle to repair.

  1. The tear was high up and really an optimal way to tear it so definitely possible for him to come back by then and be totally good to go.

  2. Jeez, good to hear some positive news…do I believe it? Maybe…but it’s been a rough week in the Bay

  3. I am a niner fan so ive already accepted the inevitable injuries that will happen again next year.

  4. If the game against the Seahawks was on Sunday, there was a chance he would be able to play

  5. That’s encouraging to hear for sure but I hope he doesn’t rush into coming back and just wait till he’s about fully recovered

  6. So with that being said he won’t miss much if any at all of the regular season… That’s great news!

  7. That’s good. I assumed it’d be much later since these types of injuries are generally full year layoffs.

  8. This is a bit rushed. Minimum of 6 months, usually up to 9 to return to functional, and about a year to be fully recovered. He wont be able to return limited to practice at the EARLIEST 6 months, and thats the hopeful time line, many other players take 9 months. He could return to limited practice at season opener but it usually takes a year to return to full, coming back after 9 could really risk injury again….wait, nvm, he will come back season opener, that’s the niner way to risk injury.

  9. Just in time for the powerstation to recharge /s

It’s been continued sadness for bay area sports injuries so forgive the melancholy.

  10. Kittle just needs to take his time and recover. Let that team play with the new core. Gotta start somewhere with a younger core. 49ers should invest on younger, faster, group of core players.
