The New York Mets today announced that the club has signed infielder Bo Bichette to a three-year contract with player options for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bo to our organization,” said Mets President of Baseball Operations, David Stearns. “Throughout his career, Bo has distinguished himself as one of the best pure right-handed hitters in baseball. He possesses the rare combination of elite bat to ball and power that will impact our lineup. Beyond his on-field skills, Bo has earned the reputation as one of the most intense competitors in our sport. We’re excited to add him to our team and believe he fits our organization very well.”
Bichette, 27, owns a career slashline of .294/.337/.469 with 111 home runs, 437 RBI, 190 doubles, 438 runs and an .806 OPS across seven seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays. Since 2021, Bichette ranks third in the American League in hits (806), fourth in doubles (163) and fifth among qualifiers in average (.292). Bichette led the AL in hits in both 2021 and 2022, becoming the first player in Blue Jays history to lead the league in hits twice. He was named an American League All-Star in 2021 and 2023.
In 139 games with the Blue Jays last season, the infielder batted .311/.357/.483 with 78 runs, 44 doubles, one triple, 18 home runs, 94 RBI and 40 walks. He ranked second in the majors in batting average and doubles, tied for second in hits, tied for third in multi-hit games (52) and tied for fifth in three-hit games (16). He appeared in seven Postseason games for the American League Champion, Toronto Blue Jays, after he was activated from the Injured List prior to the World Series. In the World Series, he batted .348/.444/.478 with one home run, six RBI, two runs and four walks. Most notably, he blasted a three-run go-ahead home run off Shohei Ohtani in the third inning of Game 7.
The Orlando, FL native made his Major League debut with Toronto on July 29, 2019 at age 21. He reached base in each of his first 17 Major League games, the third-longest career-opening on-base streak in Major League history by a player age 21 or younger.
For his career, Bichette owns a .330 (230-697) average with runners scoring position, the third-highest mark in the majors among qualified hitters since 2019. In 2025, Bichette batted .381/.427/.626 with eight home runs, 80 RBI and 10 doubles with runners in scoring position. He led all qualified Major League hitters in batting average with RISP and his 56 hits with RISP were tied for the Major League lead.
The son of 14-year Major League veteran and four-time All-Star Dante Bichette, Bo was drafted by Toronto in the second round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Lakewood HS (FL).

I’m looking forward to all the Boba Fett memes this season.
Hell yeah
Welcome to the pink pony club brotha. Lindor will leave your gift bag containing a glittered jockstrap and Karl Marx book The Communist Manifesto in your locker. Comply or be traded. LETS GOOO
I don’t know whether this guy will be a significant part of a deep playoff run or World Series championship. I do know that he’s the kind of player I like watching, which is arguably just as important. Enough strikeouts!
Bo Bimet, if you will
Nice to put a bow on this Bichette situation
what happened to capital letters this year
#19? Siri’s number. Although I always think of Ron Gardenhire
We’ll probably only get him for this year but if that’s so that means he was a part of something big and really performed. Really eager to watch him play.
19 for real? Interesting choice. I guess Polanco goes with 11.
Yay! Bought tickets to see them vs Angels in May. 🙂⚾️
Glad we got him instead of tucker
Idk why I thought this said Cody bellinger
The picture of run prevention!
*cries in Blue Jays fan*
Welcome to r/NewYorkMets, Andy
this brand refresh kinda stinks right? I’d like to see the style guide
YOU GOTTA BO-LIEVE
i can’t wait for baseball to start again. it’s been too long, and the Jets depression will never end until spring training starts
Why did all this drop at 10 PM?
Boba Chette, Juan Solo, and Francisco Andor
Fuck yeah, man
With the Mets long physicals scare me.
I hope he’s here more than one year. I really wish the opt out was after year 2 at least. One and done feels lame. Love a hitter like him. I’m much rather watch a team full of .300 hitters who hit 15-20 homers than 30 homerun sluggers who hit .200.
