Cowboys Rumors On Defensive Coordinator Search, Losing Top Candidates + Brian Flores Dream Over?

Dallas Cowboys rumors and Cowboys news continue to center on the Cowboys defensive coordinator search. As Cowboys fans start to get anxious about hiring a DC, Cowboys Report host Tom Downey is not as worried. The Cowboys remain in a good spot to land one of their three in-person interviews (Daronte Jones, Jonathan Gannon or Christian Parker) and possibly Jim Leonhard. Brian Flores, however, might be off the table for the Cowboys.

Cowboys rumors indicate these are the 4 finalists for the defensive coordinator role:
– Daronte Jones (Vikings pass game coord.)
– Jonathan Gannon (Former Cardinals HC)
– Christian Parker (Eagles pass game coord.)
– Jim Leonhard (Broncos pass game coord.)

Daronte Jones is a top NFL DC candidate, with interviews set up with 4 of the 5 jobs that have opened their searches:
– New York Giants
– Green Bay Packers
– Dallas Cowboys
– New York Jets

Cowboys fans have some understandable concern over the Cowboys losing targets to other DC jobs. Of the 15+ defensive coordinator jobs open, only the Atlanta Falcons have hired someone. And only 5 of the teams in the market have actually begun their defensive coordinator search. You’ve got bigger dominos to fall as well, so all of this might require some patience unless you rush it. You can’t magically make a defensive coordinator take the job simply by offering him first. When you’re doing a REAL coaching search, you actually will need some patience!

  7. Jerry and son will screw up anything they touch.They are incompetent. Next year will same as this year. Dont let Jerry and fool you. Remember 2 years ago they were all in. They are more interested in off season drama and the cowboys always being mentioned in the media. Not about winning.

  12. Supposedly we only interviewed 3 defensive coach candidates so far, I think the cowboys need to step it up, the fucken raiders already interviewed 9 different candidates, the commanders are looking for a DC too and they already interviewed 6 candidates

  16. Haha of course… a few, if not all of the candidates, may have better situations/interest elsewhere. Waiting for Leonard may be too risky IMHO…. longer hiring process and waiting game is overrated too !

  33. I just wonder what would happen if they all decide to go somewhere else then what is gonna happen? I’m still gonna repeat and beat the same drum because I still believe when it comes down to it if the Cowboys went to him and asked him to become the defensive corner he would take the job and he would be the best person we could’ve had for the defense and that is Rex Ryan.

  35. Sometimes I really feel hopeful that the changes will yield positive results, then I listen to Jerry and Stephen and my enthusiasm is dampened again.
