Underrated Trade Target for the Atlanta Hawks

Missi might not be in the team's long-term plans. According to Raptors reporter Michael Grange, Missi is available for trade:

"I have also heard from multiple sources that second-year centre Yves Missi is available from New Orleans as the Pelicans look to focus their rebuild around rookie big Derik Queen, although the Raptors' interest in the 21-year-old taken 21st in the 2024 draft is unclear."

This would be the on the Cheap Trade target.

Might take Vit Krejci or Asa Newell or an added Salary dump and maybe our 2nd pick in the draft or the 2029 2nd rd pick from the Cavs?

  1. I assume every member of the Pelicans’ front office has our number blocked, but sign me up.

  2. The matching salary part would be difficult at 3mil, I’ve seen mocks and rumors where they also include Alverado

If that’s the case, Onsi, do the damn thing like yesterday. Don’t even think about it just get it done holy fuck we need this

  3. Would have to think we should be interested, but I do wonder what the cost would be. On the one hand, he was a 1st round pick 1.5 years ago and has flashed at times. On the other, NOP has new leadership who spent heavily to bring in a new young C.

Would think the ask would be the CLE / SAS swap this year. We could probably extract more, and both sides actually have a little breathing room under the tax so we could do a few scenarios.

ATL Trades Kispert + ATL / CLE / SAS 1st (and cuts N’Faly Dante)

    NOP Trades Bey, Alvarado, Missi

Could see NOP put up a fight to hold onto Bey (of all people) and include Hawkins but we need a F too badly. Wouldn’t mind adding that BOS 2nd over swapping out Bey. I don’t think they are getting better value for that package of players.

ATL gets off Kispert’s deal and extends their rotation by a few players. Also makes NOP worse which helps us for obvious reasons. ATL actually gets a little cap space for next off-season as we get off the pick.

  4. Solid post & analysis. Just makes you wonder how much they view Missi as a valuable backup to Queen. Denver has showcased many times that having a point center and not having a serviceable backup can be brutal.

I also noticed that when listing which players were totally unavailable before the deadline NOP did not list Missi’s name so you have to imagine they’re open to the right offer. A framework that also brings Bey back to Atlanta would actually be great in my opinion.

  5. The internal friction with Spolestra and Ware is something to monitor. That would be an ideal target at C.

  6. Missi would be a nice fit. I’d think that because he’s paid nothing and they can essentially give him away for almost any cheap player they expect a significant future draft asset in return. Given the Hawks purgatory in mediocrity I don’t think trading a future unprotected is a good idea
