Former Falcons OC Zac Robinson is in Tampa Bay today for his in-person interview for Bucs OC job, per sources.

So, Robinson goes today, former Titans HC Brian Callahan goes tomorrow

  1. Say what you will, they are doing their due diligence. I wish they were pushing harder for Scheelhaase (Sheelhaase? Nate! Let’s call him Nate) but I can somewhat understand being concerned snagging another first year playcaller…or I can also understand Nate being open about not wanting to come in on a lame duck HC

My preference would be Pitcher, though honestly if I recall Robinson wasn’t *bad* really, he was hamstrung by inconsistent QB play from Kirk and Penix having an inability to throw to one side of the field

  2. At this point I’ll take Zach Robinson, cause right now it looks like the OC search is near its conclusion

And I don’t want Callahan or pritcher. They just seem like lame duck, I coached in the vicinity of Joe burrow hires

  3. I actually don’t think this would be that bad of a hire. Outside of Bijan, the falcons have a very mid roster. Drake is a solid WR1 but spent time injured last year and Pitts is extremely mid.

  4. Basically if we do bad, entire staff is most likely gone. I still think they need to cleanse and pursue the Seahawks and Rams DC as HC. They had many opportunities to upgrade at HC this year. Agree on not Harbaugh, Licht is good but so many options.

  5. I don’t hate a Robinson hire. Dude got the two most immobile QB’s in the league back to back and still made Pitts, London, & Bijan look good. It’s not like we’re doing anything in the playoffs with Bowles anyway. If he can show that connection with Mayfield that Coen had then go for it.

  6. I like Robinson and was interested a couple of years ago. Hard to hold his time in Atlanta against him, worth another look for sure.

  7. A lot of fans making excuses for Robinson that they didn’t make for Grizzard this past year.  Some cognitive dissonance and wish casting here for sure.  At this point they were probably better off giving Grizzard another year if Robinson is the best they could come up with.  But alas, someone had to be the scapegoat.

  8. Dude the way these two organizations trade personnel back in forth is so odd. Specially since I hate the Falcons more than any other sports team

  9. Biggest worry from reading through the Falcons’ sub was that his play-calling lacked creativity at times and repetition in run play concepts. This is pretty similar to what we had with Grizzard and obviously is disappointing to hear, but you do have to factor in the QB play he had. Robinson only had Penix and Cousins at QB, both of whom can’t play under center, so Robinson’s scheme was not able to be fully utilized. I do reserve any hopes on Robinson though because I don’t think a struggle to utilize your QBs because of formation issues is a great sign for his creativity as play-calling, something that has already been put into doubt. Robinson might be the best OC available, but he’ll have to prove his ability this time around, and until he does I don’t think this is going to be an optimistic fanbase.
