Marino “Jonah Tong’s name briefly surfaced in trade talks between the Mets and Brewers regarding Freddy Peralta, but the Mets quickly shut down those discussions. The Brewers have submitted an offer of Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams for Peralta, a price the Mets have been unwilling to meet.”

  1. Everyone has concerns with extensions forgetting how we got Lindor. Traded and signed him to extension. Everyone so jittery about a “rental” when people forget about the Soto Effect.

He’s a fellow Dominican and honestly, it helps to have fellow Dominicans on the team that you can bond with. If Peralta lands, he’s signing that extension

  2. Stearns declined trading Sproat and Jett for Garrett Crochet 13 months ago which was a huge huge mistake. Peralta is not nearly the same pitcher as Crochet. This “offer” by Milwaukee is laughable.

  3. Too much for a rental . They either agree to a contract before trade or offer lesser prospects with money.

  4. Am I the only one who sees this trade as approximately fair? Sproat isn’t as highly regarded as he used to be. Not to say the Mets are wrong to say no here based on present/future needs, but it’s not an unreasonable offer.

  5. I don’t hate the idea of Sproat + Jett for a difference maker on the pitching side, but we need to be getting more than 1 year of Freddy Peralta for that. Good non-trade by Stearns.

  6. Excessive for a rental.. corbin burnes went for a bag of dicks. But mets have to give up the cheeks?

  7. I would be so pissed if we just gave out a punch of our top prospects after building and holding, got to let them play out

  8. I’m fine with this trade for Sproat and Williams IF Peralta agrees to an extension before the deal.

  9. I would try Wenninger/Santucci instead of Spoart. But I would definitely allow Williams to be traded for Peralta

  10. McLean and Sproat are too important to the future rotation. Neither can be traded. Acquiring a starting pitcher is needed to ADD to that core.

  11. Baty, Peterson/senga, Santucci and Mauricio for Peralta and Megill … deal contingent on Peralta signing extension …

Then sign Bellinger and we are ready to go!

  12. They want too much for one year. If Peralta had 3 years left, it would be different.

  13. Say what you want about Stearns but I’m glad he knows the value of our guys and when to tell teams to fuck off. LFGM

  14. Management knows that this isn’t the Mets year. If these can make the Bigs then Cohen will do what it takes to push us over the top. They’re obviously banking on it.
