Following the defeat, Kerr remained positive. “We’re well equipped with our depth to continue to play at a high level,” he said, citing the offseason signings of guard De’Anthony Melton and veteran big Al Horford, who didn’t play Tuesday evening to preserve his 39-year-old body, as reasons to be hopeful. “I think we have enough to compete,” Kerr added.

But Kerr’s future is still up in the air. This is the final year of his contract, and as of Wednesday, he has yet to sign a new deal. Though Kerr has publicly been mum about his future, multiple assistant coaches have been operating under the premise that he will not return next season, according to team sources, with some surveying the league to secure jobs next season. Last month, longtime assistant Chris DeMarco left the staff to be the head coach of WNBA’s New York Liberty.

  1. Not surprising, but still a shock to the system to acknowledge that he’s probably done after this season.

  2. Who had Kuminga still being a warrior and Steve Kerr no longer being coach in the betting pool?

  3. Terry can come home and be an assistant on Splitter’s staff. Create some new rare terrys

  4. It would be nice to see him go out with Steph but Steph might have 2 more contracts in him. If there was any debate for Kerr it was probably cleared up when Jimmy went down. There’s not even a series of moves they could realistically make that have them as anything but a fringe play in team next year.

  5. My favorite fun fact is that Steve Kerr won 33% of rings between 1996 to 2022 as a player and a coach.

  6. Logan Murdock isn’t particularly plugged into the Warriors’ ecosystem. He’s not terrible, but I wouldn’t trust this reporting too much.

  7. I don’t believe for a second that Kerr will leave the job while Steph is still on the team.

  8. Does that mean Curry is done after this season? Surely not, he’s got one more year on this contract (through 2027) and is still an all NBA caliber player

  9. He always seemed to want to go out alongside Steph, but I guess things have changed.

  10. His body language all season tells me he just isn’t into it this year as much as he’s been in the past. He looks stressed and defeated all the time. He had a legendary run

  11. If you’ve spent anytime watching Kerr press conferences this year, this is not a huge surprise

  12. damn. now we ask does Curry stay or leave? is Dray getting the boot too? will Lebron join in free agency? Next time on Dragonball Z

  13. I feel the darkness approaching once again. Once curry goes it’s back to the dark ages.

  14. He’s going to go to the Spurs just in time to win another championship using someone else’s work.

  15. Kinda sad how less exciting the warriors are probably gonna be once Kerr Dray and Curry all retire whenever that is
