I'm not sure that those stats are completely on the safeties. I think some of the reason our middle got attacked so much is that we didn't have good off-ball LB's. A fair portion of the middle field pass defense is one of your off-ball backers dropping.
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren should be a future Panther from the 2nd or 3rd round. Perfect fit at free safety

I've really wanted a ball-hawking free safety for a while now and it looks like there's some good potential picks for that in rounds 2-4. I'm just not sure the front office values a coverage safety. It seems like they've always preferred safeties that play more like linebackers.

Fairly simple imo.We saw the linebackers consistently not getting enough depth when dropping back ,allowing to much space in a zone defense. We all watched " Nick Scott and wondered why is he still starting after multiple blown assignments every game. We have a very low blitz rate and no consistent pressure on the qb from our outside linebackers .Scourton showed flashes!
They need a nickle that can play free safety when needed. Chaud Wade ain't gonna cut it.
Just put Thornton in at cover free safety to get more burn and be more of ball hawk type safety like how the Woodsons did in the back half of there careers and they basically had 2 great careers at 2 positions
