Could Yadier Molina Be Next Manager of St. Louis Cardinals?
January 22, 2026
Do you think the stage is being set for him to get the job eventually?

Honestly, I hope not. Fans always turn on the manager. I don’t want that to happen with Yadi.
Probably in the next 3 years . Miss Yadi as player .
no
I mean I could be the next manager. That’s a dumb fucking question, poorly phrased.
Should he be the next manager? Probably not!
Should he get some practical experience? Absolutely!
Then manage for a few years, hit a losing skid and be the enemy of fans forever because fans are fickle and ruin his legacy. Sure. Sounds like a great career path.
No. He lacks the demeanor and professionalism needed to manage an mlb team. Perhaps someday, but certainly not as soon as next year.
No, because if it doesn’t go well they’d have to fire him. “Cardinals fire Yadi” is not a headline they ever want to see.
Perhaps. A good player doesn’t always mean a good manager, but I do feel like he would be a useful addition to mentoring the catchers to possible analysis in the front office.
It doesn’t matter if they don’t spend money on the team. He’s just another bobblehead promotion.
If yadi were to come on as the Cardinals manager, I would not want him to come on during the down years. Give him a team of seasoned veterans that we know as young guys currently.
Yadi as pitching coach. Interim manager when Oli gets canned. He’ll be kind of like the next Oquendo.
Why would he. He is taking an executive position with the organization. A manager would be a step down. The path for him is GM or President.
Knows the game better than most. I’d love to see him manage. I wait to see how management provides players the next couple of years.
Yes he could; no he won’t. The stage is being set to put his name and face on stuff to re-engage fans and sell tickets and merch.
Hiring Molina as manager would feel like the Cardinals continuing to milk the dried up nostalgia cow. God forbid it didn’t go well.
Dear god no. Stop this happy days reunion bullshit and hire actual managers and not a guy who has almost zero relevant experience and frankly probably isn’t up to the day to day grind of being a manager. Not to mention if you take into account the talent he’s had to work with Oli has done a good job.
I hope he isn’t our coach in the future. I love Yadi and his legacy as a Cardinal and if it doesn’t work out I don’t want to have to root for him to get fired.
While I would like it, I would give it some more time. We should have hired Francona, last year, again, but I prefer different outside voices for the next few years. If we have suffered so much without yadis leadership and voice when he retired, well, yadi probably doesn’t want to manage forever. We have to find a way to win without him first I think.
Yes. I suspect he will help oversee the rebuild and learn along the way and take over when we are ready to contend again. Yes, I understand that he doesn’t have ML managerial experience but he really seems like a guy who needs far less of that experience than most people in that position.
Please no. Bench coach or FO role is fine. Fans need to stop being weird
He doesn’t need to. He could be good but, if not, fans would get pissy about it.
As a Tennessee Vols fan, I had the same sentiment when fans were pushing to give Peyton Manning a chance at being the head coach. Just because he played the sport doesn’t mean they will good at managing the sport and the players.
YES. Get Marmol tf out of here!
I adore Yadi and I think he’d be a good manager but many of the fans clamoring for him now would turn on him the moment the team hits a losing streak. Player legends becoming manager is a risky play
