Josh Doan SIGNS UP for seven more years with the Buffalo Sabres during career season

The Buffalo Sabres and Josh Doan have agreed on a new seven year contract worth $6.95M per year! Doan has been one of the best surprises of the season, adding an offensive element to his incredible effort physically and defensively, for a terrific all around player. At just 23-years old, this feels like a great time to get a deal done. The trade looking back for Doan and Michael Kesselring for JJ Peterka is looking better and better for the Sabres. Will Doan keep up his goal scoring year to year?

With Doan, where do the Sabres now stand with Alex Tuch, given that their cap situation is looking a little dicey for 2026-27 with very little space to sign Tuch, Zach Benson, and Kesselring. The Sabres will likely have to say goodbye to the likes of Jack Quinn and Jordan Greenway, at a minimum, to make room for Tuch.

Also, a look at the matchup with the Montreal Canadiens, which is a massive game in the Atlantic Division standings.

  1. Don’t let Krebs walk. I love krebs you NEED guys like that on your roster that don’t cost much but play super hard and can fill holes in the line up. Not every player can be a super star. He doesn’t contribute a ton of points but he’s so undervalued by our fans it’s unfortunate

  2. Norris has to go some how some way. I love the kid but he’s a cap breaker for us and we can do it without him. Tuch can walk too he wants way to much it’s a back breaker

  3. Brother you’re out of your mind. Why do people think you can just win with 6 high paid players. Those guys like Quinn at 3.7 that contribute are crucial to winning a cup. You need low pay roll guys that can play. Tuchs got to go he wants too much

  4. The injury prone Norris at $8 would be my 2nd piece moved, Greenway the obvious 1st. I think losing tuch would be a massive step back

  5. I wish Tuch would just get rid of the stupid Sabres tax off the table. All this time in Buffalo just to leave without seeing it through to getting this team into the playoffs would be so disappointing.

  6. I been saying move Quinn and Greenway on here and WGRs YT channel. I got push back on Greenway because the guy likes Greenway. However Greenway is not a better person to have on the team than Tuch.
Also like others here I did say to move Norris as well. If you can send Norris plus this years 1st if you make the playoffs to a team like the Sharks. Maybe they will take Norris for cap reasons.
1 thing I would also do with Benson is give him a 1 year 2 Million dollar deal. As for Kesselring you cannot let him finish out next season on a 1 year deal. Could we give him 2.5 for 2 years maybe? Or go to 5 years at 4 million?
As for Byram yes I would look at trading Byram if I can get a good RHD like Sam Rinzel.
There is a lot of flexibility here for the Sabres to make trades that free up cap space and still replace good players with good younger players. And Mrtka is also able to push to make the team next year.

  7. Signing Doan is a strong statement to the league. Sabres r committed to a fast, fore and back checking team that is young and plays with energy. This will lead to players taking Sabres off their no trade list. If they trade anyone it should be Levi and a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

  8. I think there's a lot of overreacting to that press conference. It's true that they hit a play off wall of sorts. I don't think the Pats roster is much better, but the coaching is better clearly. Pegula sounded old and out of touch but he is an old billionaire so that tracks. Other than the stuff with Keon, I think people are very much overreacting.

  9. I feel like we need to drop greenway and norris to make room. Norris has been fine when playing but id rather pay tuch to be there all season then to pay norris to not play
