Honestly though, the fact that we had the season we did should be all the proof that he deserves this title. I just hope we never have a season like this again lol

Kyle Shanahan was able to build this team in a cave! With a box of scraps!
Not sure I want him to win the award. I think there is some dumb stat that says over 50% of nfl coach of the year winners get fired within a few years of winning lol. And I want Kyle and Lynch here for the long haul. No madden curse for Kyle.
As A fan, of course I think he deserves it, however I hope he doesn’t win it, nothing but bad luck follows that award.
No question would have gotten it if we had clinched the last game against Seattle. That one game will knock him out of contention.
Shanahan is a victim of his own success. At this point, he is considered an elite coach. Therefore, it is expected to achieve elite results.

I love our coach. I just wish he’d spread that load at running back a little more evenly.
Even the years we made it to the Super bowl, he did not win it, so that can’t be the only context they consider as far as a deep playoff run. All coaches have done a great job though, but none had the adversity like Shanahan. Also I have him on a slip at +30000 lol
I’m going to be really curious to see how this shakes out. Normally its who had the biggest year over year improvement which is where Vrabel and Johnson would be the more standard picks. There is precedent of doing more with an impossible situation with Stefanski in 2023 like Kyle did this year so we’ve got a shot. That being said, I heard a few media people say they voted for McDonald as just the best coaching job (Harbaugh 2019, Vrabel 2021 are recent iterations of this).
I want Kyle to get it so bad because he’s so over due and probably a top 3 coach in the league. I think McDonald gets it though – I think week 18 was a decider for McDonald or Shanahan because Kyle was getting a lot of love in December.
I know he won’t win it because of what can only be described as bullshit. But I’m still baffled by what he managed to accomplish. He’s our uncrowned king.
