I still don’t know the ins and out of hockey, but I think Carberry is a good coach. This is really a player issue

We aren’t bad. Our special teams is BAAAADDDD
It’s the special teams. All the stats can point that out.
I know it’s rare… but even if it comes after the season you gotta move on from the current assistants in charge of that.
If you can’t run em up, fill em in…
If you actually watch this team we are constantly exposed in the neutral zone, particularly in the left side of the ice. We don’t don’t defend our blue line and we don’t stop teams coming in with speed. This is a death sentence for this team and our coach never seems to have an answer. Watch the first period against the sharks and you will see just how bad we are defensively. We are also back to perimeter hockey which looks nice on time of attack but it’s just fancy stats for doing fuck all in the offensive zone. Our forwards only play is going into the corner and throwing it back to the defense. The problem is the only one who can shoot worth a damn is Chychrun, the whole strat makes no sense. Add a billion turnovers a game and you get this team.
It’s a culmination of a lot of things right now. The most glaring issue all year has been special teams and that has costed this team numerous games and maybe could have prevented the total lack of confidence. There is also an inability to enter the offensive zone and we struggle to clear the defensive zone at the same time. A lot of our shifts lately feel like we’re playing defense, gain the puck, dump it, change and repeat. Lines are also getting changed every game and sometimes every period so there is very little chemistry on the ice, which is leading to players throwing a centering pass to nobody and plays of that nature. Also the caps haven’t played a 60 minute game in months. This falls on both coaching and the team. Someone in the leadership structure needs to step up and get the team motivated before the playoff picture is set. I don’t care if it’s Carbs, Ovi, or Wilson, but someone has to light a fire under them
You’re the coach…tell them to play that way?
Coaches who say things like this usually get fired shortly thereafter.
If Carbs posted his frustrations anonymously on this sub, we’d accuse him of “doom and glooming”
