I had an idea for a bit of a different mock draft. Not what I want or how I would pick the players, but what the Saints' brain trust would do.

The twist is, instead of my trying and likely failing to figure that out myself, I wondered to what conclusions an "AI" enabled with deeper "thinking" capabilities and wide internet access with the potential to analyze past drafts, large swaths of information around news/rumors/etc would arrive. I didn't make any of these picks myself.

I wonder what you'd think if the Saints went this route. Feel free to leave your thoughts. Despite our ability to get great pickups in later rounds, PFF charges to have full 7 round mocks so this is a free 3 round one. Many of the popular names people may want were drafted prior to our picks (for instance: Love, Downs, Tate, Tyson, etc were gone before pick #8; see the second image. Likewise, Pregnon was gone in rd 2 before pick #42).

  1. I mean, they would all help the team a little bit at least. But I would definitely be pissed off if this draft is a carbon copy of the past 5 drafts. Whiff on an edge rusher, trade him after two years and watch him probably get a sack record or something. Typical New Orleans

  2. I like Jakobi Lane a lot. If Chris Brazell is there in the 2nd round I’d take him, but if he’s not, I’d be perfectly happy with Lane in round 2.

  3. Feels like a much more realistic scenario than Love, Bain, or trade down scenarios. This pick is gonna be a very athletic lineman with prototypcial size or a WR/CB over 6’0″ with a high RAS.

  4. This is my nightmare scenario, all the guys I would prefer gone in pick 2-7 🙈 Woods would be a good addition but I’d be pretty underwhelmed with it…. Probably does seem quite realistic!
