Joe Pep was a slick fielding, lefty outfielder/first baseman with a power bat. They even look somewhat alike. It's not a perfect match, of course, Joe Pep had a short shelf life as an elite player, and his best years were nowhere near Belli's, even adjusting for the lack of offense in the 1960s.
