The 2025 Bears really zapped a lot of the nostalgia for the 2018 team for me
January 23, 2026
We held on to this collection too long. Loved this group but man it doesn’t hold a light to what we just watched this season

This team feels like a fart in the wind. Not even thinking of them. Onward.
2018 was cool but this year was the most fun season I’ve watched since 2005
At least the 2025 team won a playoff game
Weirdly the 2018 team was better with less future hope. They actually had an elite unit. They won 12 games and never got blown out. Lost to the Pats when a Hail Mary was a yard short. Several convincing wins. But that defense could never be that healthy again, and that offense only got worse.
2025 was way more thrilling, less dominant, but so much more encouraging for the long term at HC/QB
I never got to experience Chicago Bears 2018 so I only have the past broadcasts to look back on. I can say Chicago Bears 2024 to 2025 is my moment so looking forward to more in 2026.
And before anyone asks I was literally becoming a fan once the former QB left and we got Caleb Williams.
Despite the success in 2018, I still had a lot of questions about the QB & playcaller.
I dont have those reservations now, and feel confident in Ben/DA (who also isnt going anywhere) to get the defense up to par.
2025 offense with 2018 defense, where would this team rank in terms of greatest teams ever?
Ain’t no way Trubisky is making the same throws as Caleb. Mitch did not have the arm talent, pocket presence, or ability to extend plays as well as Iceman.
Would’ve thought 2019 and the rest of the Nagy era would’ve done that already
I think 2025 is also more sustainable because the 2018 offense was carried by the defense all season. This offense has a bunch of promising rookies, a star QB, mean O-line, and a legit play caller.
I always wondered what the 2013 team might have been if they had just a slightly better defense and I think the 2025 team might be better than that.
The first 3 quarters against the packers with Mack felt like the most fun game I’d watched at least since AZ ‘06. Then we had like 5 games that were better and more memorable this year.
2025>2018
The 2025 Bears feel more like a parallel to the 2015 Cubs to me.
2015 Cubs beat their major rivals, the Cardinals, in the NLDS then get bounced in the next round of the playoffs by the Mets. The Cubs had some iconic moments during the series against the Cards, and they looked like they could be better next year. The next season, they end up as the 1st seed in the playoffs and win the whole thing.
2025 Bears beat their major rivals, the Packers, in the Wild Card game, then get bounced in the next round of the playoffs by the Rams. The Bears had some iconic moments in their game against the Packers, and they looked like they could be better next year.
If they end up as the 1 seed next year, then it has to be fate.
2018 has nostalgia for you?! Yikes. My knees!
Iv never had any nostalgia for that team. The double doink entirely ruined that season for me
The 2018 defense was Super Bowl caliber. A lot of star power and great role players.
Except for Kyle Fuller. He was awesome
2018 was an overall better team, but 2025 was an amazing ride.
that defense with this offense wins a superbowl
I still fully believe that the 2018 team was much better than this years team even though this team has the better coach and qb. That defense was genuinely an all time great unit, only teams comparable to them were the legion of boom and 2015 broncos
I really get the feeling of the 2015 Cubs with this team. We’re finally starting to see the pieces come together. Another good offseason and starting next year proving it wasn’t a fluke and hopefully they are just like the 2016 Cubs
