OPINION: Even amid a shooting slump, Derrick White is an All-Star — but don’t take it from me

  1. Idk man his shooting has been *rough* this year, I definitely don’t think he deserves all star this year despite all the little things he does

Which sucks because he absolutely deserved to be an all star either of the last two years where he was just as impactful as a defensive connector and playmaker and his offense was elite

  2. His inability to go left was exposed badly against the pistons, something to keep an eye on for the playoffs if he remains as a primary scoring option

  3. It sucks for him because this was his year. Guess there’s still a chance because of his overall impact on the floor, but the shooting has been pretty rough.

I do think he’s a major reason the Celtics have been so good. He has taken over lead ballhandler duties and is awesome on D

  4. I’m so sad because this was d white’s year to go for an all star and he hasn’t really had the best year

  5. Rose colored glasses. He has shot us out a few games this year. If this slump had just been a recent thing it’d be one thing, but he’s been shooting poorly all year.

I won’t take anything from his defense and playmaking, which have been great, but he’s not an all star. When Tatum comes back I expect him to look like more of his past self.

  6. DWhite’s on-off numbers this year have still been incredibly good, because his defense and playmaking have been making up for his poor shooting.

DWhite is being ask to be the 2nd option, which simply isn’t his offense role he is comfortable with.
