Jeff Marek: More BIG moves coming for the Canucks? Including some unexpected trade candidates

The Sheet’s Jeff Marek stops in for his weekly chat and weighs in on the potential value of Tyler Myers on the open market. He gets into the rise of the super tall defencemen and how they came to be valued in the NHL. Jeff also talks about the Foote comments on veterans, how valuable vets can be in a rebuild, and the need for wins every once in a while during a tank. Marek also has thoughts on the timing of the Sherwood trade and where he might end up for next season.

  1. 1:00 What are your thoughts on Marek's comments on loving hockey, and more specifically that hockey wont love you back? Feel free to relate it to other sports.

Initially, I'm not a fan of that ideology – but I don't fully disagree. Do any of you give it merit?

  2. Myers is one of the slowest and clumsiest D I have seen in a long time. He needs like 3-4 years training camp with Chara to become dominant with this size. I don't get your infatuation with him OR even what's his face Mr Grumpy…… Hronek.

  3. Jeff is right. Canucks need two more good moves to add way more grit. All these fourth round guys are ok but we need two more guys like Kane and O'Conner here. Foote is players coach he could see big improvement here next year. Myers is still very good player. Losses bring him down. Edmonton or TO should jump to get him. Bluger has to stay as a leader and a teacher to youth.

  4. I love it when fans think they know which Canuck should be traded. You know who should be traded? Anyone over 25 who can fetch the best return. It’s a rebuild, so best offer wins.
