mark Loretta and Eric owens come to mind as some of my favorites padres dawgs. they always showed up and hustled on every single play. I’ll only mention two so I don’t hog up the players.
what are some of y’all’s favorite unsung heroes or dawgs? I’ll always remember Eric Owen’s stealing home vs the reds.

I will forever love Hunter Renfroe. It was my first game ever at Petco Park with my dad, seeing Renfroe hit the walk off grand slam off Kenley is one of the coolest things I have seen live.
Chris Denorfia was one of my favorites. He always went all out. Whenever he came to bat we’d yell NORF!!
Eric Owens was so much fun to watch. Never had a clean jersey by the time the game ended.
All time Padres dawgs? Mark “Sweendog” Sweeney
Dude was a grinder, playing for 8 different teams at one or two years a piece, stayed in the business as a coach, then went over to broadcasting, even though he was never all that great at any of them lol.
Dude hustles for the love of the game. I don’t love his commentary (because it means Don or Mud aren’t in the booth) but damn if he’s not a total dawg.
Ooh, this is a good question. 100% agree with your two picks.
I’ll add Ken Caminiti. I know there were roids involved, but that dude was a tough SOB. He played through so many injuries they used to show graphics showing all his current injuries while he was playing. There would be like 10 different things pointed out. Loved that dude
MARK LORETTA MENTIONED🔥🔥🔥
Kurt Bevacqua.
Since Owens, Loretta, and Denorfia were already mentioned, I gotta say Ha-Seong Kim. Dude always gave 100% on every single play.
The play (for HSK) that stands out to me is the play where the ball deflected off of Manny’s glove, and HSK runs it down in foul territory to get the runner trying to advance to 3rd.
I grew up watching Jake Peavy, he was always my favorite. I also loved Khalil Greene.
But, I have a very special place in my heart for Mike Cameron. He made a spectacular diving play once and ran right over to me on the first base side and handed the ball into my glove, smiling and looking at me in the eye. That was cool.
I loved when we had Loretta and Eckstein in our infield. I was lucky enough to meet David a few years ago, still trying to get a Loretta auto just so I can tell him how badass he is.
Eric Owens, hell yeah he was a DAWG!
Caminiti needs to be in this convo.
Between games (in Mexico) he was dehydrated. Got an IV, 2 Snickers bars, and went out to play the second game too.
Will Venable, might’ve been our best player a couple of years too
Mike Darr before he passed and Brad Ausmus
Archi Cianfrocco! Dude could play any position! I don’t think he pitched at any point, doesn’t mean that he couldn’t!
https://youtu.be/7_zbOdfiYlI?si=33p9I_VPz_ikvkDp definitely up there
In my early 30’s and Eric Owen’s is my favorite Friar of all time. Still remember the dirty shirsey giveaway
