Bold predictions for rest of 2026 MLB offseason

  1. If we trade Dominguez for a weak side platoon catcher I’m going to be very upset

  2. I told myself, wow I get to see the modern Mickey mantle after seeing judge, and now the man will be traded for a backup right handed catcher

  3. >The New York Yankees will trade Jasson Dominguez before the start of spring training.

Certainly possible. He’d be a great fit for the Pirates, Royals, Dbacks, and Reds in particular IMO.

But I think it’s more likely the Yankees just hold onto Dominguez. He’ll be 23 next month and has yet to play a full season’s worth of games in the majors. His stock is down given his poor performance against lefties and his uneven glove. And it’ll be tough for Cashman to move such a hyped prospect when his value has dropped.

Trent Grisham is only under contract for one season. Cody Bellinger can opt out after 2027. There will be room for Dominguez to contribute this season and earn a full-time role going forward.

  4. “The Yankees will give up something and we won’t specifically talk about the return”. Terrific.

  5. Mostly good w the team now. They have young arms in the system too. They brought back mlbs top offense I’m gonna lay off Cash and Hal now

  6. Trading Dominguez is the logical move, but the Yankees FO way overvalues him and Jones in trades. The league doesn’t see these guys the same way at this point. Unfortunately the ship has sailed on using either as a huge trade chip.

  7. I love that the Yankees hold on to prospects until they aren’t worth anything.

  8. Trading Jones would make more sense, since if a team wants to truly scratch that lottery ticket, starter time makes the most sense.

Trading Dominguez could work with more moves, but I don’t see them making Jones the presumptive 4th outfielder.

  9. Their “bold prediction” is that the best pitcher in baseball will win his arbitration case?
