The Breakout Nobody’s Talking About 👀

  1. Twice as valuable as I thought he'd be, but his offense before last year was underwhelming compared to expectations. Still impossible to ignore him.

    Just some things I like to point out about Varsho over the years;

He hit Into 2 double plays in the post season and maybe hit about 5-6 grounders to second , some of which he beat a DP. That's rare.

He hit into 1 DP in 2025 and 8 (reg season) total as a Jay. He went a whole calander year+ without hitting into one.
Lourdes and Moreno have hit into over 70 combined; And have a significantly lower combined WAR than Varsho since the trade.
Exactly how trading your top prospect should turn out.

Varsho also has a higher career WAR per 162 games than Vlad (4.4 to 4.5). Sure it's half defense and there's no argument whose the bigger threat, but value is value.

    Higher than Bellinger too (4.3)

Provided he can stay healthy and somewhat productive , I see a bellinger type deal available.

  2. I won't shut put the idea COMPLETELY! I hope you're right Nick. I love Varsho. But let's focus on his strength 💪- defense!
    PROOF ME WRONG Daulton!!!

  3. Big Vashy fan but he was ass against LA, he’s got all the tools to be great. Not sure if he’s up for it. Guess we’ll see I hope he makes me eat my words. Go Jays, let’s get back there and win it this time! ❤ ⚾️

  4. His comment “I’m just trying to hit ground balls back to the pitcher” was the best comment all year. As he went on to explain: his swing has natural loft, if he tries to get it in the air he pops it up. IMO it was the best comment about hitting since Donaldson’s MLB TV masterclass.

  5. I was angry at the deal when we traded for him BUT now I also believe, after seeing last years improvement, that he is going to have a monster year. 30-35 homers if he stays healthy

  6. So how much would you pay to extend him?
I’d replace this years arb salary and do 5 for 90M
Varsho could make a ton more on open market if he plays like second half, but he also could get hurt and miss out on all of it. I don’t know if I would go more than that on an extension yet though

  7. His ceiling is through the roof – platinum gold potential after tutelage under Kiermaier, and his 0.08 HR/PA ratio only 0.01 behind Judge, Ohtani, Schwarber

  8. Ummm … No. He's the best there is defensively, without question but his offense is what it is: a streaky hitter with sometimes impressive power with holes in his swing and too high of a strike out rate. One does not negate the other. $15M AAV max but I'd rather have a more well rounded player. Which is to say I would give up some defense to have more consistent offense

  9. I think he can (potentially) hit 25-30 (if he stays healthy) even if he hits .250/.260, that WORKS for me. The defense will always be there. A good hitting year would be the icing on the cake 🎂 🥮 🍥

  10. I think so too. The problem is going to be keeping him healthy. Even when he returned, his throwing arm was very weak. I do hope he’s fully recovered by spring training and that with Popkins’ continued influence Varsho’s swing and power are maximized.

  11. Buddy…we have SO many guys capable of 30 HR’s. I think we’re gonna see a lot of bombs this year. Varsho, Santander, Vladdy, Okamoto, Springer, Barger…buckle up.

  12. He reminds of Matt Chapman. Gold Glove defense, some power, low batting average and strikeout a lot. Matt Chapman got 6 years/$150 million from the San Francisco Giants.
