Alright Chat… how we feel about this?

  1. I hope it’s bullshit. The Kings don’t need a 34 year old winger who wants a 4-5 year extension. A center or puck moving defenseman who isn’t in his mid thirties should be the priority.

  2. No this would be like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound to the head. This team is old and slow. Start the rebuild.

  3. Glass half full: Panarin would be a game changer, is a guy who plays his heart out, adds the nonexistent skill this team lacks

Glass half empty: He’s 34, that is a luxury acquisition when we need a Center more, also that money or assets could be used getting a better puck moving defenseman

My take: If you could get him without surrendering much in the way of draft capital. I would consider it. Think like how Florida got Marchand last year.

Ultimately I feel we really need to address the pivot spot first. I also think big picture I’d go rebuild but a Ken Holland hire indicates we’d make moves like this

  4. A few years ago I would have been jumping for joy even at the prospect of acquiring Panarin, but now not so much. We need a center.

  5. Forget his age and the term of a contract…Bread Man simply does not fit in with the structure and playing style of L.A.

He’s never been a defensive player and in a defense first model that won’t help. He also benefits from having offensive players on his line who can be his defensive conscience. In NY this has been Trochek and before that, Strome. I don’t see any of Byfield, Fiala or Kempe playing that role.

  6. I want them to hold off and offer 12 to Jason Robertson in the off season. No way Dallas could match it.

  7. Horrible idea to get older and not younger. We should do what the Rangers are doing, not buy from them.

  8. How do I feel about someone guessing about what might happen? I feel nothing.

It seems clear to me that Holland is not a long term solution at GM. My concern (in general, not specific to Panarin) is that he looks at options to keep the Kings playoff-relevant and deals away what little is still in the cupboard (prospects and draft picks) because he feels that’s why he was brought in.

My opinion is that this roster isn’t getting past the first round, no matter who might be brought in. It’s not a team built for the playoffs. Sorry Kopi and Drew, I think this team needs to rebuild now.

  9. I’m for any trade that makes us more talented. I want us to add only top six wingers / centers or top 4 defenders. If a player comes in and pushes someone down I’m ok .

  10. Los Angeles: Where old Russian forwards come for fame and a paycheck, but not much hockey.

    No thanks!

  11. Idiotic and par for the course. If Anze is a good captain, he says park your ego and rebuild.

  12. Going “all in” for a 34 year old winger is kicking the can down the road and wasting time with QB and Clarke. We need to get younger, not put constant band-aids on things. Move our older guys for picks and/or players. Panarin is a really good player, but by himself (and what we lose in the trade) isn’t worth the cost. I’ll enjoy watching him if it happens, but I don’t think it’s best for the team down the road.

  13. We need a Center, or 2 to be exact.
What’s the Left Wing going to do?
Unless they get rid of one of ours included in the trade? Or, is Panarin a UFA?? Which begs the question again, do we need a winger or two Centers?

  14. I didn’t listen yet, but this sounds like classic Elliotte spitballing something.

Panarin is awesome and I think his game will age well, but a 34 year old winger at that price for multiple years gives me a lot of pause.

  15. Why is the team not trying to take a stab at Jason Robertson, he is from the area and grew up as a fan of the team

  16. I’d rather go after Robertson tbh, though that’s probably not going to happen.

  17. If the goal is to assemble the oldest team to win the cup, let’s get Crosby too 😄
