  1. Who knows if it’s true but I wouldnt be surprised. No way the wilpons just let this guy go. Especially even if his contract was up something would have been said on the broadcast about a final goodbye last year . So unfortunately it might be true

  2. Also such a loser for framing it as “they let go of me because they were going to go in a different creative direction”

I said it at the time and got mass downvoted as well, but the gassing up of his broadcasts like he was some auteur director for doing the most like film school “I’ve seen one De Palma movie and I’m a cinephile now” was embarrassing lol

  3. We got the annual Mets scandal out of the way nice and early and it doesn’t involve any players, coaches or front office people. I’ll take it.

  4. Brother framed it like he voluntarily resigned over creative differences like this junk wasn’t gonna come out eventually 💀

  5. Was upset at first because I enjoyed his directing but if this is true he sucks as a person and I’m glad he’s gone

  6. Dude’s gonna have to start learning drywall, no one is hiring him after this right?

  7. Franchise has come so far that our scandals are now from the Emmy award winning directors of our broadcasts and not on the field.

  8. Like I said to Allison on her Bluesky post (and my comment around noon people downvoted me on lol) I found it really odd no beats said a peep, it was on a Friday (days news go to die) right before a historic snowstorm.

Then again I’m some random internet guy so.

  9. It truly is a shame that DeMarsico did this. Though to be honest, I am weirdly comforted by fact that he was fired due to his own shittiness rather than organizational malpractice by the Wilpons.

  10. I don’t get why we as a society even care one bit about this. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I’ve never watched a Mets game wondering about anyone behind the camera. He’ll be replaced and none of us will even notice a difference.

  11. Maybe now is a decent opportunity to come out as a DeMarsico-skeptic. He is a very talented director, but if you followed him on Twitter it was obvious he relished the praise and it went to his head a bit. He did some cool things but also a lot of really gimmicky things, and seemed to buy into own hype.

  12. You all are painfully missing the point as to why this is irrelevant.

Yes, it is irrelevant because it has nothing at all to do with the work he did; it’s a personal matter and we should all mind our own fucking business.

But the real reason why you should all shut the fuck up is because you are throwing stones from glass houses.

Stop acting like your closets are perfectly clean. You’ve fucked up, you’ve hurt people, and you’ve made mistakes. Stop acting like your shit doesn’t stink.

  13. cool, so yeah, i mean i loved the black & white -> color diaz walkout as much as anyone, and there were a few neat moments a year that we all lost our minds over, but let’s not act like 99% of broadcast hours weren’t just business as usual baseball.

the broadcast will be fine, and whoever they bring in behind him will be eager to make an impression and keep things fresh.

  14. I just wanna watch baseball dawg. Hopefully whoever the new director is just lets me do that. I don’t need to watch the game through some random fan’s glasses while they eat cotton candy.

  15. He made his bed but it’s going to be very difficult for him to find work after this.

  16. Unfortunate. Reminds me of when the best umpire Pat Hoberg got kicked out for a more or less unrelated offense. At least Hoberg can apply for reinstatement, Demarsico might be gone forever.

  17. what the fuck man…

i feel for his family and the cameraman’s daughter. terrible, terrible stuff

  18. Imagine how different the world would be if men were less horny and/or acted on those impulses less often.

  19. He was literally the only MLB broadcast director anyone can name, the shots on the broadcast became memes, then he got fired out nowhere and said he was now a “free agent”, it’s obvious some shit went down, sleeping with a subordinate and giving her press credentials is pretty much the only thing that can get a guy of this status fired, so yea good job John, learn to paint and I hope it was worth it because nobody is going to hire you.

  20. Mods must feel stupid for deleting that user’s comment who said exactly this in the original thread.

  21. “I don’t like trafficking in gossip” but also how dare people that are not privy to such gossip have an opinion

  22. And he manipulated us by strategically writing the line about creative direction. He must have known we would pick up our torches and pitchforks after reading that.

He could have easily have said he was just moving on to new opportunities.
