A BOLD Mets move with massive upside and real risk
The Mets finally make their long rumored move and it changes the entire conversation.
In this segment, Evan and Tiki react to the New York Mets trading for Luis Robert Jr. and debate what the deal really means for the direction of the roster. Is this a smart low risk, high upside bet or just another gamble tied to health and inconsistency?
They break down why the Mets had no choice but to upgrade defensively, how Robert Jr fits in center field, and whether a change of scenery away from the White Sox could unlock the version of him that looked like a star just two seasons ago. The discussion also turns to what this move signals about Cody Bellinger, why Yankee fans should be paying close attention, and whether this trade quietly strengthens New York’s leverage in the waiting game.
Plus, a deeper look at David Stearns’ bigger picture plan, the new look Mets lineup, run prevention versus power, and why this roster feels unfinished but intentionally different.

We still need a LF
Mets need two more quality pitchers. I said quality
Do the Mets really have protection for Soto
Don’t trade sproat Tong or Maclean protect the franchise these pitchers can lead the Mets to World Series while everybody talks pitching I want these guys to get 20 starts I believe the Mets could shock people and have the best young starting pitchers in baseball I don’t want peralta trade for him because they want our stud core in my opinion sproat Tong and Maclean are going to be great
Guys, I love the painting. It’d look better with Pete instead of Polanco, but bichette / Rob jr / the ace I imagine them landing – it’s kinda nice
Not happy about getting Louis Robert, This whole offseason did not go as I wanted. The Mets got cheap !
Remember when Soto said when they signed him he mentioned he wants to play for a dynasty…..when folks, he was not talking about the Mets. !
Cohen & Stearns……I hate you! I just sold my skybox seats !!
Power hitting is worse. Bullpen is worse. Corner IF and LF are worse defensively. SP, the #1 reason the Mets missed the playoffs, is unchanged. I dont know why Evan is mortgaging his credibility defending this turd sandwich of an offseason.
Robert will have a bounce back year with 30+ HRs and solid CF.. Now we just need to trade for Freddie Peralta..
Belly is back on the ONLY TEAM IN NY!!! Mets SUCK and are never getting past the Dodgers😂😂
This was a salary dump for the white Sox and we took advantage of this.
Didn’t have to give up much.
Low risk and possibly high reward.
“We shall see said the blind man 👨🦯 “! Unquote. LGM💙🧡.
Hit it on the head, Robert brings a HUGE upgrade over what we had in CF last year on his WORSE day. & There's actually still Mets fans crying about giving up Acuna who had absolutely zero path to playing time + success on the Mets
I cant imagine a worse acquisition than Robert. Can we allow our pitchers to hit, and DH for him? The clubhouse is now toxic, with the White Sox nightmare, who was benched for lack of hustle, and interest multiple times
This looks like a longer lineup to me. Lots of long ABs, lots of versatility, quality veteranship mixed with prime players. And the thing about HRs is it now how many you hit, it’s when you hit them. There was a two-month stretch last year where Alonso and Nimmo were invisible in that lineup. I don’t see this one being nearly as streaky or prolonged to team-wide slumps. Last year, it felt like the team was waiting for some magical moment while this year’s squad added hard-nosed Bichette and Semien.
I think the locker room culture changes and I see this as an 87+ win season as it stands. If McLean, Sproat, Scott, and/or Tong take steps forward, the ceiling improves.
Tiki really needs to just stick to Football and shut up 😂
"A new lease on life" 😆 Luis Robert Jr had ZERO pressure in Chicago on the White Sox lol and now cus he's in Queens he's gonna flip a switch and magically revamp his career in one of the toughest markets and most crticizing fanbases in sports 🤣🤡 NY really have the goofiest fans in the world
we nee a salary cap
Can anybody foretell that LUIS ROBERT, JR will play at leasr 125 in the 2026 season?
Little power, no starting pitching – Roberts is a .220 hitter.
I'm with Evan 🤔🤔🤔
Funny how a couple of weeks can change a fans perspective we wanted Stearns head on a silver platter I this a cohen move more than Stearns move but I'm happy either way
The painting sucks because Pete isn't in it. That said. I like that the Mets added Bichette, and I'm ambivalent about Roberts. Well, perhaps a little more positive on adding Roberts because the price was so low. If Roberts can stay healthy, he'll be a significant improvement on last year's centerfielders, even if his offense is no better than last year's. However. I think the change of scenery is more likely to produce improvement than not. Hopefully, it helps Semien rebound, too. Then we just need Vientos to prove 2024 wasn't a fluke while Baty (whether at 1st or in left) does the same for 2025. If we get all that and Alvarez finally fulfills his promise, the painting will still succeed because Pete isn't in it.
That's the problem with Mets fans they get happy with shopping at thrifty stores while dodgers n Yankees shop at Macy's
I like the signing of Robert. He was playing like his early career superstar self leading up to last year’s trade deadline. When he wasn’t traded, thinking his spirit was broken. Thinking he will thrive in the big city.
It’s interesting that everyone says we have less thump as opposed to last year. I think overall we have more. Bichette is no slap hitter. He is good for 20 HR. Our DH spot last season was bad, Polanco at DH is good for 20 HR. Baty coming off of a big 2nd half is good for 20 HR if he stays healthy. Alvarez if he stays healthy is good for 15-20. We still have Lindor and Soto. Luis Robert will certainly hit more dingers than Taylor. I think overall we will have more HR and more XBH
I think evan and tiki are in love
Tiki is the next OJ
Why are fans so stupid? Why be excited Luis Robert? Because they traded nothing to get a nothing. Luis Robert is awful.. Going all in would have been outbidding for Bellinger or even Tucker. This team isn’t good. They have a terrible rotation. No closer and the line-up is top heavy again.. Maclean is the ace after throwing 40 innings. Moronic.
Why do both New York teams have an OBSESSION WITH PLAYING PLAYERS OUT OF POSITION??? I will never understand.
The Mets will not make the playoffs next year. 😒
I miss Pete in the heart of the lineup, but other than that, I do think this team is more overall balanced, and allows for more potential in stringing hits, but until the pitching rotation is finalized, we wont really know exactly what we are going to have or be. Its a better "foundation" than what we had, but its by no means a finished product.
Cmon evan. He’s a 220 hitter. No pitching still. Be honest. Mets are a clown show.
Mets buying the whole MLB
That's the face Ev made when they traded his son Jett 😂
Bo was signed on a one year deal because if he has a great season he will most def reenter the market and that means they are all in for one season and with Peralta now also on a one year deal, if they Mets are all in for 2026, they need another starter and a bat for LF and can't depend on Baty of a mix of guys that have no expertience there
Luis Robert Jr. actually will cost the Mets $42 Mil this year when you include the 110% ($22 Mil) luxury tax paid to the league. Not MY money though so
Should have sent us Frasncisco Lindor instead
