Bias aside does anyone else think this is an absolutely absurd take

  1. Just like the rest of sports media, clickbait bullshit for engagement. Stafford himself wouldn’t put him above Rodgers

  2. Prime Rodgers was probably the most accurate thrower the game may ever see, that being said when you are talking about all time greats… super bowls matter more than anything

  3. Not a Cowherd fan, but that’s a reasonable take to me. Stafford will have similar longevity/totals stats and 2 SBs vs 1, which offsets the MVPs. I think it’s at least a good/reasonable debate at that point.

  4. rodgers is absolutely a top 5 qb all time in terms of talent, and even if stafford wins again Rodgers resume is better. Putting aside how I feel about the packers and Rodgers personally, he’s probably a Mt. Rushmore qb. stafford is fighting to be objectively top 20 (though I think this season alone has already shifted his HOF conversation significantly; also for what it’s worth i think matt is probably top 15 personally but not everyone feels this way)

  5. Absolute braindead take. Like most of what he says, it’s likely wrong on purpose to farm engagement.

  6. I love Stafford but at no point in his playing career was he ever considered in the league of Brady-Manning-Brees-Rodgers. And for the most part he was also outshined by Big Ben and Russ. He might pass up Big Ben with an MVP and ring this year, but Rodgers? Even with my bias that’s crazy

  7. 2 rings, is all some people will see and choose Stafford I guess…. But Rodgers might be on the QB Talent Mount Rushmore, Stafford is elite but not near that level IMO

  8. Super bowls are more important to everyone more than MVPs, but superbowls do not mean that one player is better than another. Rodgers is better, and it’s not close.

  9. Yeah i mean Stafford with a 2nd ring is comfortably a hall of famer for me, but Rodgers with his 4 MVPs or whatever the hell is still ahead of him

  10. Eli has 2 rings somehow but is the most mid QB ever…Super Bowl don’t always equate to great QBs, Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson come to mind lol

  11. FTP but it’s hard to argue Rodger’s MVP’s and rating. But…they also have opposite trajectory. Rodgers’ best years were with the Packers. Then he kind of fell off. The Achilles sucks when he went to the Jets but it is what it is. Matthew arguably got better when he went to the Rams. Yes, he threw for 5k with us and was amazing. But idk. It pains me, but I think Rodgers is above Matthew.

  12. Outside people really didn’t see Stafford when he was on Detroit. Now they see. But better than A-Rod? Not really

  13. Stafford is probably still my favorite Lion ever. If anything my bias would be in favor of Stafford. Rodgers was better. I think it most likely just means that mcvay is probably just a better coach than anyone Rodgers ever had.

  14. Completely subjective. He becomes definite 1st ballot HOF. There are so many different things you can consider. Rodgers is probably the most uniquely talented person to play the position, but you have to think about as a teammate and a leader and the mental part of the game, blah blah blah. I would take Stafford over Rodgers because Rodgers always seemed like a pain the ass. Any other reason I give is to justify that position.

  15. Stafford is kind of like Eli Manning in NY.

How much of his success is due to having a good supporting cast around him in LA?

Yes, our team probably should have done more to help him win in Detroit. But, that’s what can so flawed about ranking QBs.

  16. This isn’t the first time Colin has said something like this. Back when staff was on the lions, he said Stafford was more talented than Rodgers, he just didn’t have better coaching.

  17. I still love Stafford and hate Rodgers but there is no way Stafford is passing him up. Rodgers had an amazing SB performance and 2011 Rodgers is arguably the best qb season ever

  18. yes the super bowl is irrelevant, well not completely, it won’t hurt him but another w will get him the love of those who think qbs wins are a stat

  19. No. regular season MVPs honestly should mean more for your overall greatness than super bowls.

  20. Yeah this is idiotic. But I said after the last win if Matty gets another chip we’re going to have to start putting him these conversations. Ahead of Rogers is asinine tho lol

  21. The man has made a career out of making hot takes.

That said, Rodgers may be the most athletically talented quarterback I’ve ever seen.

  22. Rodgers is a top 10 QB all time. Stafford is a top 10 active QB in the league.

These are not the same. I mean, Stafford isn’t even the biggest weapon on his own team, and only once in his career was he considered to be. Eli Manning isn’t considered ahead of Rodgers in the all time conversation. It’s just a bad take. Not a hot one, just a wrong one.

  23. Nope. I love Stafford, but Rodgers at the top of his game was as good as anyone to ever play

  24. Prime Aaron Rodgers was magical to watch. He was a complete master of his craft. The thing is, he’s not aging gracefully at all. Stafford is the total opposite, where his best years came later in his career. So frankly, they’re kinda even to me.
