After doing my research I’m liking Steve Clinkscale, more and more to fill in for the vacant DC slot left by Jesse. For one he and Jesse were co-DCs at Michigan and he knows the scheme better than anyone other than Jim and Jesse themselves. He also has most of his experience as a secondary and in my opinion more importantly line backer coach which I think we can agree is what makes us stand apart most (no disrespect to d-line). Finally from what I can tell he’s very well liked and seems like a guy who can rally the troops around him. Ik inside hires aren’t always looked at very favourably, but I think we got a good one right under our noses, what yall think?

  1. To me it seems like a no brainer. Best shot at continuity, he coaches the level of defense which has most overperformed, long history with Harbaugh, and play calling experience.

Unless they get a Flores or McDermott level guy, which seems super unlikely, I’m 100% in the Clinkscale camp.

  2. I honestly didn’t even know who our DB coach was until I read this post but I’m all for it. Our corners and safetys have been playing at en elite level the last two years, he even made St. Juste look good, I trust this guy

  3. 99% certain Clink is the move. The Rooney Rule is goofy though, and even if they intended on promoting a minority coach, they still had to interview 2 external minority coaches.

That has been done as of today with the interviews of Orr and Wilson.

  4. Im hoping he’s the guy. I don’t really like any other DC prospect and our defense flourished under the minter type d

  5. I was thinking Bowman would be promoted, but instead he’s helping his son build a basketball career.

  6. fuck it, give the man a chance. Im sure he will be a bit different than Minter but will also be very similar. It sounds like the team loves him and he should get his chance.

  7. I want the focus to be on destroying blocks, gang tackling and an offensive minded defense.

  8. I was really trying to dig up the presser where harbaugh basically revealed his hand saying clink would take over if minter left for a hc job last season but no luck or they took it down. But harbaugh said in that presser he believes in building a pipeline of coaches in the event somebody leaves he has someone who he could promote. He specifically mentions clink because he said the same thing last year about minter it’s not if but when…
