Ughhh. Mudbowl. I hope he has nightmares of AJ Dewy every night.
I remember watching that game as a kid and still believing that Richard Todd was gonna turn it on and lead Jets to victory and to SB. There was no legit reason to believe. I was just a dumb kid that thought I could wish for a victory.
So many decades later and yet that disaster is still one of the most successful seasons I’ve seen from this cursed franchise.
Toddy’s yardage there is pretty good for us now.
As a child, I had no memory of how absolutely enormous his face was.
Mud Bowl
Was at a game I think it was the Raiders at Shea Stadium, probably 1979, during the whole Matt Robinson should start thing. Todd threw for 3 or 4 touchdowns, Jets win next day cover of Daily News is Todd giving the finger to somebody, Good Times
No one could find the open linebacker like Richard Todd
I don’t remember Richard Todd playing. The first Jets quarterback I remember is Kenny O.
But I was alive for the Richard Todd Error. My parents have a picture of me and my dad rocking mid thigh Adidas running shorts, knee high three stripe socks, and matching bootleg flea market “Todd 14” tee shirt jerseys.
It was all Don Shula’s fault by flooding the field.
124 Touchdowns, 161 interceptions. Wild!
O’Brien was my first memory too. No matter how bad the Jets were, O’Brien just had that quiet confidence about him that a lot of QB’s don’t have. You always felt comfortable with him the game. The guy made the pro bowl twice.
Glad someone finally brought up Richard Todd. I never see him mentioned here at all.
“Big” Dick Todd!
Monday night game against the Dolphins in the Meadowlands, greatest game I saw.

One flooded field away from being a legend.
He walked so they could run
