This is the 2nd player the medical staff has failed first was cb who clearly not even at 75% than their doing this.
I’m going to be the bad guy here and say that the strength and conditioning staff are the culprits. We literally are the most injured team this year in the NBA!!! It reminds me of pre- Payton era with the Broncos where we led in injuries and didnt hit our potential due to it!
Mr Nuggets cant go down. Hopefully Joker and Cam will be back soon and we can rest AG as much as possible.
The thing is we need to have everyone healthy to build some rythm as a team. Having guys constantly in-and-out makes it hard for guys to find defined roles to settle in by the playoffs
Ahhhh I agree but it must be so hard for the whole org where you’re trying to rest guys and get healthy but also win games so if Murray and Pwat are out tonight *someone* had to play. But also an injured player on a team is like an injured knee where the other one overcompensates and is at risk for a bit, and you can see the wear and tear getting to everyone on Denver at this point. I’m honestly feeling like Spencer Jones is a bad play away from straining something and Pwat is clearly feeling it. The team has been SUPER during this stretch all things considered, but everyone’s bodies must just be hurting.
Maybe save him for the playoffs and just start Watson
I posted this on the game thread but I’ll put it here as well:
Sports doc here.
“why did the medical staff let Gordon play on a back to back?”
Totally fair question, so I wanted to offer some medical perspective.
Yes, back to backs could increase the risk of aggravating muscle injuries.
But it’s also important to remember, these are adult professional athletes. Medical decision making in pro sports isn’t paternalistic. The medical staff advises, outlines risk, and gives guidance, maybe even HIGHLY encourage or discourage, but the player ultimately decides.
These players aren’t owned by the team. If Aaron Gordon wanted to play, he plays. And I can almost guarantee, the Nuggets weren’t pressuring him to suit up. Much more likely, he felt good enough, and told the coaching staff he wanted to go. The coaching staff made a numbers decision and agreed because they need literal bodies to field a team with some reasonable likelihood to win.
Once that happens, and he’s medically cleared, he’s on the floor.
This season has kinda sucked so far ngl… hoping we are better by march and April 🙏
Really need that ASB
what the fuck are we doing playing him. did we not learn from playing cb too early?!? our entire rotation is out. no reason to rush them back.
Can someone please give a rough estimate when he is likely to come back?
It’s what he is. It’s ok. We have a very interesting bench
>given his history of soft tissue injuries.
Sounds like an AG problem not a training staff problem. Grade 2 (Moderate): 3 to 8 weeks is what Google says and AG was out 6
I’m starting to really wonder if the medical staff are tripping. Why do we have so many injuries? What’s going on
I had my concerns with the med staff beginning of the season. Sigh…
I really don’t like how people say “the medical staff is foolish”.
You think you on Reddit know more about the status of a player than the people who treat them every day? Really?
Our backups are doing great! No need to rush our starters back.
When Jokic comes back, he can sit for a few weeks.
Was about to say this , we are playing b2b , we are resting other guys including Watson/Murray …but we play AG?? With his injury history in last 2 years? FUCKK
Anyone in here saying that a player chooses when to come back is just talking through their ass.
It’s very well documented that teams physicians need to medically clear injured players, and give coaches the green light to let them play.
High paid players are also insured for injures. Part of the insurance package is team coverage, where the organisation can recover up to 80% of a players salary if a very significant amount of games are missed due to said injury.
No insurance company would agree to letting injured players coming back without medical clearance.
I’m not counting on him for the playoffs anyway. After the break, after 20 days of light play, he got injured again…
Even if he doesn’t play a single game until the playoffs, there’s no chance he can last through the entire playoffs.
Maybe have him come out the bench when he return and avoid playing him back to back
This will also help Watson continue his hot streak when everyone is healthy
i dont have any medical training, im not a physical therapist or a physiotherapist.
It seems obvious that AG should not do back to backs. He should also have a minutes restriction until the play offs
The stars dont need to align for the playoffs as we have a great team, they just have to be healthy.
He ain’t old. His ass should be out there every damned night… the fuck?
