Recently, broadcast director John DeMarsico announced that he will be leaving SNY. A huge film junkie, he is famous for his cinematic shots during innings, as shown in the pictures above.

I personally think that hiring DeMarsico would add plenty of Hollywood-esque flair for a team that already embodies Hollywood in every way. What do you think?

  1. I wish, these shots are so cool. Imagine him turning loose during the last WS. Actual absolute cinema if it was up to him

  2. Not if the [rumor](https://bsky.app/profile/eternaleyeroll.bsky.social/post/3md4awezvhc2e) is true about why he was actually fired.

(Normally I don’t find it appropriate to spread accusations until there’s actual corroborating evidence from a source, ideally the accuser, but sharing this in context of potentially hiring the guy)

Update: A Mets beat writer seems to be [corroborating](https://bsky.app/profile/petitephd.bsky.social/post/3md4sdqv6k22r) this rumor.

  3. There’s no one else in LOS ANGELES that’s good at cinematography, production, direction?

  4. Dodgers broadcast is already the best in MLB. Whoever they are hiring are excellent at what they do. Best yet, the current directors never make the broadcast about themselves.

  5. Assuming that rumor isn’t true (you usually don’t do a public good bye if it is), there’s a good chance he’s going national with NBC’s new Sunday night broadcast.

  6. He should be cloned 29 times so every team can have him at their broadcast director.

Baseball is the most cinematic sport and he was the only one who knew it.

  7. He just cheated on his wife with the daughter of his coworker. I wouldn’t want that kind of a dude around.

  8. Was never a fan — always thought it was pretentious and unimpressive. I liked some things like multiple face shots etc. but it’s a pass both because it’s just not that necessary and the apparent rumors.

Getting downvoted to hell in the other sub for not liking this guy lol.

  9. This is all great to see and all, but sometimes I just want to see defensive positioning, focus on fielders, etc. I like the cinematic shots that build a story of pitcher vs batter, but sometimes I just want to see the story of the game/at bat which includes better shots of the field and positioning

  10. Are these cinematic shots used during live game play?

I think they look cool, but for actually watching the game and seeing everything going on and how a play unfolds…give me a good old wide angle view
