We made 2 true mistakes this off season. The first being the Myles Turner signing/Dame waive and stretch. Second being not firing this bozo of a head coach right after the playoffs.

Us being garbage this season should’ve always been the plan. Especially when we benefit heavily from tanking. If we suck and the Pels suck (they do), we’re certainly guaranteed a high draft pick regardless. We need to tank the rest of season. And if everything goes right, we have a high draft pick, plus two future first available to trade in the off season. And I know you guys don’t want to hear this, but if you add Rollins… we’re in prime position to make a superstar trade.

This team isn’t as doomed as you guys think it is. The only way to doom us is keeping Doc employed going into next season. Of course if it were up to me, I’d fire him today.

  1. Then trade giannis to the hawks get the pelicans pick and some jalen john or Dyson and start the rebuild

  2. Wanting an injured and immovable Dame contract over a center that fits and can contribute along Giannis is certainly a choice. Mistake isn’t what I’d call that yet.

  3. Agreed. Send Giannis on a three month meditation retreat and tank hard. Then see where we’re at in the offseason- either trade the pick with a couple others for a real second star if Giannis is willing to sign the extension, or trade Giannis this summer if he’s not willing and use the high draft pick on a good young player (plus whatever other picks we would get in a Giannis trade).

But either way, it makes no sense to try and win games this year.

  4. As much as it stinks to be this bad, this is the best year we could’ve had the swap happen since this is one of the most stacked drafts in recent memory. Hopefully NOLA takes back that worst record spot to further increase our odds of a top pick.

  5. Why do I have this unshakable feeling that somehow we’ll luck into a Top 3 pick and the Pelicans will drop to like 8 or something?

  6. I think tanking is overrated in the NBA. The lottery takes away a lot of the benefits of tanking, and very often the top picks go to teams that don’t tank. I do think generally, though, that it’s time to focus on next season. Make your deadline moves things that are about next year rather than now. Giannis won’t like not playing at all, but kid gloves. Get rid of Doc (who has factored into two long-term injuries in a week now), let Darvin Ham be the interim and he can be a candidate in the off-season.

  7. No, this should not have been a tank year. Think about it, the east is not going to be as weak as it is this year for years to come. You have 2 of the best players for 2 eastern conference teams that will be returning next season. One of those teams, has managed to actually be a decent team, the Celtics being led by Jaylen brown and Derrick white of all people and they are the 2 seed at 28-16. Everyone expected them to be awful this season. You can’t make convince me, their two best guys are that much better than the bucks 2 best guys. Which then points the finger squarely at coaching, but also we have had some bad breaks with injuries again this season which were very detrimental. From the beginning of the season , KPJ was hurt, soon as he comes back, Gianni’s goes out, Gianni’s comes back and goes out again. That’s the season right there. But then you look at teams like Denver, no jokic no Murray and still manage to go 7 wins out of their last 10 games. Which then leads us back to coaching and identity. Celtics and Denver know who they are as a team and actually want to win regardless of who is out there, there is no culture with these guys right now. At the start of the season we were good, then idk maybe the injuries, maybe the trade talks maybe just doc himself or a combination of the 3 but guys just don’t arent competing. It’s not a talent issue at all, our issues are effort and discipline also not holding guys accountable. I’ve never felt this uninterested watching games, even during the pre Gianni’s eras, you knew those teams just weren’t better than the upper echelon and didn’t have the talent. We are going up against teams with barely any of their starters playing, and routinely getting the score ran up on us by 20 or always having to play from behind. like they can’t even get a quality shot or run a spammable play. Meanwhile, the 12th guy on Denver’s bench can score against us at will. Make that make sense.

  8. Maybe this is why “Giannis all of a sudden got hurt” and is out 4 weeks now. I agree, fuck winning even 1 more game this year. We need to tank.
