Obviously it's an A plus hire. McDaniel has as good of an offensive mind as anyone. He simply isn't an alpha that can be a head coach. His quirky personality should mesh very well with Jim's quirky personality and herbie seems to be nerdy too so it might be the perfect Trinity.
Herbert doesn’t need a lot of help. No other QB could get that team to the playoffs with the worst O-line in the NFL. He just needs someone who isn’t Greg Roman. It’s scary how good he could be with even an average support system. We haven’t seen it yet.
