I met the son/nephew of Leo Nomellini’s last night! He was wearing a custom black out jersey with his last name. I made a comment saying I appreciated the jersey and he seemed shocked that someone recognized his family member! He mentioned that not many people remember him anymore since he played in the 1950’s.

Anyways, was a pretty cool interaction. Loved that his family stayed in the Bay.

  1. I grew up in Palo Alto and I remember he was
one of the dads helping build the little league field. My FiL knew him and occasionally we’d go to his house where his tiny Italian mother would cook a feast.
Also YA Tittle was our insurance agent, most pro players had second jobs in our neighborhood.

Definitely middle class post war community back then.

  2. Absolute legend, my grandfather was friends with him and would do barbecues and stuff with him, lucky enough he gave my grandfather a bunch of cool gear and a signed Leo Niners jersey
