1. McCarthy is a born and raised Yinzer! Rooney told the staff to clear out their offices and turned off their email last week. They knew they were hiring McCarthy, and they knew it was going to be an overhaul. A young/new HC has limited connections. McCarthy has formulated relationships over the last 38 years that can't be duplicated. It's about the supporting staff that TOMLIN NEVER FORMULATED!!! HE HAD NO COACHING TREE!! McCarthy …if given a leash that Jerry Jones didn't give him…could develop a good staff. AND MENTOR A YOUNG STAFF MEMBER to succeed him….unlike Tomlin.

34. Mike significantly improved the record of both teams he has been head coach for recording 12 or more wins with the cowboys and Packers by his second season. He is good at many things – just not clock management and play calling. If the Steelers can find a promising QB McCarthy will do nothing but help his career. Proven track record of developing QBs, with multiple QBs having MVP seasons while in his offenses. (Not just as HC) McCarthy with two different franchises and four fewer HC seasons, has nearly the same regular season win percentage as Tomlin, and has the same number of post season appearances at 22 but with 4 more wins. And McCarthy won his Superbowl without an inherited previous Superbowl roster. Objectively, he has the more impressive resume. The hate on McCarthy is way overblown. And, if you thought Art Rooney Jr at 90 was going to wait through a tear down and rebuild, you're delusional. He thinks and wants the Steelers to win now.
