Prospect risk is always baked in. Unlucky for MIA
But they got Yamamoto!
They got Yamamoto
First two seasons with the Brewers: 14.4 BWAR. Just insane.
They got Diaz and Yamamoto. What a great starting pitching + closer combo!
Loved Yelich at Miami. Always thought he could develop into an all star. Hope his back stays healthy in the twilight years of his career. He needs a few healthy years to reach 2k hits, 300 HR, and 1000 career RBI.
Yelich did not want to be with the team anymore after Fernandez’s passing. We got what we could from him, unfortunately(and it was all bad)
Jose’s death was the linchpin for the Marlins’ unravelling in the 2010s, which brought us to where we are now, unfortunately.
Hopium/Copium side: It looks like the Marlins are getting back on track now under Bendix’s leadership after what we saw last year.
Prospects being so fickle is one of the most interesting parts of baseball. So many trades look dogshit in hindsight that may have looked fine at the time.
Monte Harrison plays WR for the University of Arkansas.
I was so slow putting things together I thought this was saying the marlins acquired yelich now hahah
I was kinda shocked none of the prospects worked out there was real talent there
Brinson was supposed to be a stud right?
St. Louis Cardinals fan here. I always like Christian Yelich and hoped someday he would be on our team. He is still great and I wish him well (unless he is playing the Cardinals).
Crazy to think they had Stanton, Yelich and Ozuna in the outfield hitting prime ages(26-29 range) and sent all away in a single off-season.
The Marlins traded away the whole best offense in baseball, and the only decent player to come out of it was Sandy Alcantara.
They dumped all of their players during that period: Realmuto, Stanton, and many others. They had a play off caliber team, but they wanted the payroll under control.
I remember trading for Jordan Yamamoto in franchise mode – mlb the show 19 during covid
Hey Yamamoto only retired in 2023, there’s still time for a comeback
Marlins are a dumpster fire. You would think some day they would get on track.
Lol I remember adding Brinson on my fantasy team because this trade had me thinking maybe he was good
Whoops
Never heard of a single one of those guys they got for Yelich 😂
Lancaster Barnstormers great, Isan Diaz. I actually got his autograph at one of the fan events before the season. Nice guy!
That 24 hour period we signed Lorenzo Cain and traded for Yelich will be stuck in my brain forever.
Vampire lookin muhfukka.
How do the Marlins keep finding all this talent?
The Marlins may not have invented the fire sale but they certainly have employed the tactic to perfection many times.
My recollection was Brinson was expected to be a star in a few years after the trade.
Lew Brinson was supposed to be a thing
Is Christian Yelich on a Hall of Fame trajectory?
He’s going into his age 34 season and currently has a career slash line of .285/.374/.464 with 1,741 H, 233 HR, 851 RBI and 221 SB
He’s at 45.1 bWAR and has an MVP, 3 All-Star selections, 3 Silver Sluggers, 2 batting titles and a Gold Glove
Christian Yelich for

Marlins fans getting fleeced since 2004
At the time those were all top tier prospects for us though. To be fair. Lol
Would Yelich thrive on the Marlins?
4 years ago Yelich looked like the worst contract in baseball with a back that may never recover.
To be the, that’s only the their 2nd worst one-sided trade.
Insane that 3 of those 4 prospects retired by the age of 30.
How would an alt history route look like if the Marlins stuck to their gut and kept everyone. They can spend they shelled out 200 million in 2012. Looking at the payroll Yelich was under contract(extension) until 2022, Gordon and realmuto until 2020 and Ozuna had 2 seasons left before an extension.

[Isan Diaz had a pretty great MLB moment at least](https://youtu.be/JlAUs8K7V30?si=VfBmbh96LqqxRkry)
