Ranking Cincinnati Bengals NEEDS on Defense Going Into BIG Offseason

The Cincinnati Bengals face a make-or-break offseason as their defensive deficiencies threaten another season with Joe Burrow. Can the front office land a game-changing pass rusher or transform the secondary with a top safety? Upgrades are needed at defensive end, defensive tackle, safety, and linebacker as Trey Hendrickson’s departure looms and depth remains a concern.

Jake Liscow and James Rapien break down positional needs, debate draft and free agency priorities, and weigh the value of identity players for revitalizing Al Golden’s defense. Will Cincinnati’s strategy deliver the defensive facelift required to contend in the AFC North?

  4. Defensive Offseason Plan:
    Extend Myles
    Extend DJ
    Sign Devin Lloyd
    Sign Oweh/Ebiketie/Phillips
    Sign someone in the secondary
Draft DT, S, CB in the first 3 rounds (Woods, EMW, Rivers)

  6. Once again, another off-season with too many holes for the Collaboration to even bother filling half. Can they do it? Yes – Will they do it? No chance- Dookie blamed the players and praised the status quo. The Bungles only priority is profit.

  8. Not only do they need to improve various positions on the defense but they need to build strong defensive depth and that means not being so hell bent on being loyal to the guys who aren’t quite apart of the starting 22.

  11. They need to really consider doing what teams are doing in college football and taking a couple of older players that are more ready to contribute immediately. If they aren't going to trade up for Reuben Bain then trade back and take Akeem Mesidor and Lee Hunter. Yes, you lose the potential of a LONG term asset, but you have an opportunity to significantly upgrade your defense immediately in the draft. Mesidor, like Bain, has moved around the defense and can actually move to 3 tech on 3rd down and bring much better juice than anything we currently have. Safety is a good class and I actually love Kilgore as a big, dynamic safety that you can move to the nickel. Unfortunately, I think he's going rise like a rocket ship before the draft.

  12. They need leaders, not rookies. Trying to build a D through the draft is nuts! Find some guys through free agency that has proven their worth. Also stop getting rid of anyone good!

Backup QB's and O-lineman can't stop the other team from scoring points

  13. Anyone watch the AFC game today. Sean Payton blew the game for Denver opting for a 4th and one in the redzone instead of a chip field goal. They failed and all subsequent FGs except one by the Patriots missed from a variety of distances. Both Payton and Vrabel disdained the pass in the second half and relied mainly on running due to the weather. As opposed to D'Opie our coach who in a Buffalo snowstorm let Burrow throw 40 plus times with about 14 rushes or so. We lost mainly because of 2 bad Burrow interceptions in the second half when we could have been running the ball and with the pick 6 we were in FG range for a less than 40 yard try.. Situational football something our coaches dont understand.
